I usually have a daily browse through the MM since i finally got in and one thing that strikes me is the prices some ppl ask for/reject when an offer is made.

im glad the rules are enforced as strict as they are or most threads would go something like this

i selling item x
you price is too
not it isnt
yes its is

flame flame flame

my point im getting too is the prices some ppl ask for 2nd or 3rd hand equipment to me is sometimes totally ludicris ( spelling ), for example atm is a 60gb ssd on sale and offer were made of around 70, the hard drive is 2nd hand already and has no warrenty, but the seller wants more, another person offered 60 after the OP mention the warrenty status etc but again was turned down even after linking to OCUK weekly deal were the hd in question was on offer for £73 brand new with a valid warrenty.

Now am i alone in that i would want at LEAST 20% off an item that was being sold on MM against the cheapest price i could find new, if the items was either new/unused or had very little use, or for something that has been used for a few months i would want even more off it.

I was thinking about selling my 6950 and i see that they are going for £160ish on MM even tho you can get brand new ones from £191.99 on OCs, i would nt spend that much on 2nd hand when i could get brand new for such a little more.

what are you guys thoughts on some of the prices things sell for in MM then.....

If the vendors' prices are too high, the goods won't sell. Simple. If a buyer is prepared to pay the MM 'ticket' price then they will.

On an unrelated note, I found your post hard to read. But then, I do have a headache and have been staring at text all day :(

If you dont like the price, then dont offer a price if you think the seller wont accept.

simple.

A seller should sell at the price they are comfortable with. Not a price the buyer is comfortable with.

If a buyer doesn't like the price, they can easily look elsewhere.

Nothing wrong with a little persuasion though. (In this case, linking to the new item on OcUK).

A seller can list their items at whatever price they want.

If you believe items should be at least 20% less then thats your decision. You're entitled to make offers (as long as permitted) but I don't see the point by having a moan in GD - just because something you spotted isn't being sold at the price you expect.

But why should you demand that the seller sells it for less. If you make an offer, and it is rejected, then it is rejected. You can always negotiate by email if you feel the need to argue. In the terms of the 6950, so you are selling it, then you let people pay the price they want to pay. Just because you can budget the extra 20%, doesn;t mean that everyone else can. I have had some decent bargains on here, and sold others for less than I thought they were worth. It happens.

I assume you will be offering your 6950 for a lot less than £160 then?

The thing is, while things look expensive on there, these are usually the prices people will pay on the bay. I can understand why items on the MMs are a little higher than you would expect.

If you don't like it, walk. It's up to the seller what they charge as long as there's no profiteering. I alway put items up for sale at least 10% less than I think I'd get for them on eBay, with some room for negotiation too.

i had no interest in buying the chaps HD btw, that was just the last post i read in the for sale section before i made this post,

also this post isnt a rant, i just wanted ppls opinions on the general prices things both sell and get bought for.

@philly dee, yes i would be more than happy to sell my used 6950 for £160 pound if thats what someone wanted to pay for it, my point im trying and failing to make was that i myself would never buy a used 6950 for £160 when i could get a new one for a little bit more and was just wondering if other ppl felt the same.

What makes me wince a bit is when someone knocks the price down to something very reasonable and people still try to offer less :S you could sell say a brand new, working monitor for £1 and people would still try and offer 50p :|

iv noticed this also lol, my own personal thoughts is that if somethings used i would want a very noticable discount or id rather just buy new.

Sellers try to get the most they can, while buyers try to pay as little as possible. That's how all markets work isn't it?

At the end of the day everything is worth what someone's prepared to pay for it.

Yeah I don't have a problem with barganing to get a reasonable price, etc. but I just find it a bit amusing (in a sad way) that its come to the point (in general not just MM) where people price things high just to be bargined down to a reasonable level because if they priced it reasonable people would still try to offer under the odds.

Do other people feel that if things are priced too high they wont sell, and if they are priced reasonably they will sell?

As has been said, things dont sell if they are too dear, people then can try and sell elsewhere where they could get charged for selling, so theres no harm in asking whatever you want to start with on overclockers. Theres been thousands, tens of thousands of sales from happy sellers and buyers, as someone who has sold a lot, you get to learn quite quickly whats a reasonable price, and the people complaining about the MM are guys who have barely used it, like yourself.

Yeah because the human race is retardedly short sighted :P we'd all save ourselves a huge amount of time and hassle if people were just prepared to pay/recieve a reasonable amount.

I've had this happen on my sales. It doesn't matter though as you never have to accept an offer you're not happy with. If it's priced reasonably someone will buy it, and the daft offers keep your thread on the first page :D
