Why do poor people love vicious dog breeds so much

I remember watching the documentary about this on bbc ni, a top gaelic football player was unmasked as a major player in the dog fighting world, the people involved were part of a rather large network spread throughout europe.

Aye. I bumped into a few once at a game fare that stopped in my town. One of the chaps was from Craigavon and that was just up the road from where I lived. Knew who they were through whispers and they gave me a nod and they commented on my dog (there were a few people with Staffs and Pit crosses, but I was the only one on that day with an English Bull. And the one I had at the time was big, even by Bully standards). But I didn't hang about. ****ing hate dog fighters. They ruin lovely dogs. Tarnish their rep as well. The only thing I like less is hoods and chavs that get them for looking hard in front of their mates.

Why do poor people love vicious dog breeds so much? It happens in every country. It can't be simply cultural because the phenomenon happens in every country in the world.

I find that insulting. Define 'poor'? It's not only underprivileged people who own 'vicious' dogs (by that I am assuming you mean the pit bull type breeds). I own two Staffordshire terriers but wouldn't describe myself poor or craving some ill conceived status.

Ignorance, it seems, is rife judging by the continued derogatory comments made by the self professed elite among GD. If those who claim these dogs are vicious would take the time to educate themselves a little they would find that while they are certainly capable of the bad reputation they have inherited, they are actually excellent family dogs given the correct ownership.

Yep, a friend of mine had an english bull, most gentle dog ive ever seen, sadly theese status symbol idiots do indeed give certain breeds a bad reputation.

Only bitten once and it was a miniture irish wolfhound.

Wanted my 6p tomato crisps. Mum got her put down even though I didn't want her too.

Sad little boy I was.

Its so when they are walking back from collecting their hundreds of pounds in incapacity benefits and dole money they don't get robbed.

90% of them are thick as biscuits and think walking around with a cap titled backwards wearing a tracksuit and a nasty dog makes them hard

The punishments for carrying knives increased so people got dogs and trained them to be vicious. They are effective self defence. For chavs.
