Alice Madness Returns - Consoles get the 1st game free included. PC gets you know what!

I really want it, but I'm also not exactly fond of the EA Store. Gah, why couldn't it have been on Steam too or come with an included download code at retail?

Erm no, EA have been doing a terrible job of supporting the PC community for a very very long time now.

Along with Capcom they're pretty much the last big multiplatform developer/publisher that routinely releases their games on the PC. PC releases are much rarer from the other big publishers.

There is a re-release on sold-out games for a fiver, if you can still get it anywhere..

It was my favourite game of all time and is still installed on my pc. It's a damn shame that newcomers to the alice game on pc will miss out, but I think it is a good idea that it is available free on console so that console gamers don't miss out on one of the best games ever!

They won't miss out though as EA are now giving PC gamers who buy from the EA Store a digital copy of Alice 1 remastered in HD along with Alice Madness Returns for £34.99. Only downside is you must buy & download from the EA store.

That's a massive downside though as their downloader is a big pile of poo.

It's disappointing that they decided to do it this way but I guess they want to promote their own digital sales over Steams. Still, I'd be surprised if it didn't see a release on Steam eventually.

I agree but better than no Alice 1 in HD!!! Typical EA forcing gamers to populate their account base by dangling this carrot as lets face it many PC gamers love Alice1 & tying it to the EA Store is emotional blackmail :(

Does anyone know if it will be possible to play this game without having to link it to your EA account?

If not then that word beginning with P which refers to people with eye patches and wooden legs is going to be strongly desirable to obtain any game released by EA from now on.

Dead space games can be played without linking to anything as far as I know (haven't launched them in a while so not 100% certain), so I don't see why anything should be different with Alice.

DA and ME games need to be linked to get access to DLCs and stuff, thats why I asked.

I dont know if this game is going to be like those, I dont want to link any game to my EA account because you can get banned from those games for being critical of EA on the internet.

Actually, I forgot that I can just buy it on steam. I will wait until reductions for this game though, its not one that I will want for full price. I got the first Alice game for 3 for £10 on sold out :)

I'm pretty sure that even if you buy it on steam, you would need to link it to get access to the DLCs, just like with Mass Effect and (I assume) Dragon Age?
