As can get it on upgrade for the wife £20 a month (300 mins, texts and net)

Should be ok for her as she wants the net and to take pictures of the little one, as long as its better than her current Wildfire ;)

But is it worth getting?

IMO no way - my sister's had that phone since last may and its just horrible compared to other phones like the desire range etc. Screen is poor, only 384 mb ram and SE version of android on that is slow and laggy.

You should be able to get a desire s for £20/m and a galaxy s2 for £25+

They want £50 for the Desire "non S" on a £20 a month contract (Vodafone upgrades) and £25 a month for a free Galaxy S1

I think its a great phone tbh, the screen is in no way poor, i do agree the stock sony 2.2.1 update isnt great but hopefully 2.3 will solve that, if not root it and put on cm6 as its a fantastic rom.

The camera is also really good, hd recording is nice to, There is also an Arc rom being ported with the Bravia engine so far 50% working

I'm not going to root as its the wifes, as long at it all works well with 2.1 thats cool.

:)

Sure it's getting 2.3 official?

Can you debrand easily? As its coming from Vodafone

its was posted on the sony mobile blog thing, sometime at the begining of the 3rd quater iirc.

debranding shouldnt be a problem, root and put the official sony 2.2.1 , and leave it at that.

I was originally after a Desire for my last upgrade but o2 wouldn't do any decent deals on them, can't say I've felt dissapointed having the X10 instead.

Have had my X10 since July last year and it's been great, pre 2.1 I had a few issues with call quality and battery life but since 2.1 it's improved a lot.

I have one and hated it before I rooted it and put on the CM6 rom.
Now I love it. I have no 'issues' with my handset.

SEUS> "your version is the latest" Install anyway and you will have the Generic software on your phone not Vodacrap.
Then use flashtool to root and install xrecovery
Then follow the instructions on XDA forums for putting Cm6 on.

There are some great roms on there so if the cm6 is not your flavour then you can try others easy peasy.
Just remember to do a back up via xrecovery before installing the new rom. That way you can put it back to generic without using seus.

I need my camera so can only really install ROMS with working camera otherwise I would be on J's CM7
