Yeah but in my experience, people only say 'everything happens for a reason' when something bad happens in their life and they are trying to make themselves feel better.

I don't believe my life's path has already been determined but I do believe freedom of choice is an illusion. Everyone's mind is a product of their surroundings and these environmental inputs determine behaviour/choice.
