AMD based gaming rig SPEC me up!

haha, lots of enthusiasm for the i5! love it. Does the bundle deal save money?

it saves about £10, but gets you a motherboard that has had more complaints than top gear, and doesnt have SLI or crossfire support (or if it does, its at a very low speed)

MSI is definitly the way to go

yeah the msi is a better board for crossfire/ sli and stuff but it might tip you over budget slighty

the second one is quite a bit off budget around £30 but it is one hell of a board for overclocking i have one and manged to get my i5 to 4.4ghz no problem will get 5 but cooler isnt good enought

look great to me.

should be fine. but if someone who knows more about these things than me could come in here and give a go/no go on the bequiet PSU with that graphics card, that would be great

the PSU is great (i have one myself), but im not 100% sure if its powerful enough

geting the i5 2500k to 4.4ghz is super easy, and i'd be dissapointed if any motherboard couldnt do it. hell, a review site got it up to 4.4Ghz on the stock cooler.

and that would give you a nice boost :)

yeah but mine dont know if im just lucky im running at really low voltage i think it was like 1.26v :O

just checked on here

and with the cpu oc'd to 4.4 and all thing running 100% (totally unrealistic) it pulled out 452W so the be quite should be fine

PSU calculators can be a bit rubbish sometimes. thats one of the good ones, and it still recommended a ~700W PSU for SLI 480's

i was more interested if the PSU in question had enough power in the 12V line for what it needed to power though. i know it wont use more than 530W in total, but i dont know how much the bequiet can provide to the graphics card alone

it says it has +12v1 at 18A and +12v2 at 18A not sure how much a 6950/6970 uses

notsureifserious.jpg

why go for the 975, when the 955 can be turned into a 975 with a small multiplier change, and the i5 2500k is way superior (even the i3 2100 is superior in most respects)

motherboard has no SATA 6gb/s slots (although, because the SSD is 3x slower than the one the OP has been recommended, will this bea problem?)

grahics card is epicthough

prehaps something like this then?

obviously cuts down on the processor, but its still better than an AMD one
