Hi. Whats the cheapest PC you can build from scratch but still good to play todays games on low medium settings. I have no idea what goes with what apart from looking around the web at simular builds. What i want to do is see if i can make a cheapest PC you can get to see if i can build one my self. My PC at the moment is a Q6600 quad core at 2.40GHZ and Asrock p43DE mobo and 5770 graphic card and still plays most games on medium settings. Im willing to buy even cheaper if possible.

Thanks for any info.

the graphics card could be swapped for a cheaper one but I'd say that's the best cheap pc that you could build unless you don't need an os

This is the cheapest gaming PC I would go for.

458gaming.png

It includes a quad core CPU, a solid DX11 graphics card, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD and Windows 7.

Edit: Going for this windows + HDD bundle pointed out by stulid and KiiYzOo will save you almost a tenner. So the total price would be £451.79

I just saw this:

Thanks for any info.

In that case you already have a pretty nice PC.

May I ask what PSU you have and have you tried overclocking the CPU?

Thanks for the reply all.

My PSU is Pro X Stream 1000WPSU. I no abit over the top PSU and yes its still very good to play today games.

Im wanting to see if i can build one from scratch with out wasting too much money and sell on. So cheaper the better so if i blow anything up i dont waste too much money :P.

I no its cheating but what about buying a cheap barebone motherboard bunle and then buying ceratin things around the mother board.

Sounds good - should be fine with pretty much whatever you throw at it.

Ok, but if you are doing this make sure you get a decent performance boost over the Q6600 or you will basically just be wasting your money making a new PC with similar (or worse) performance. I would suggest an i5 2500K and a P67 motherboard.

It really depends on the bundle and what kit is included. Any reason why you don't want to buy the CPU and motherboard separately (unless it is pre-overclocked)? You will save a bit of money buying separately and you get to pick the exact CPU and board that you want and fits your needs the best.

Fitting the CPU isn't the hardest part I'd say is fitting the CPU cooler that's even not that hard

Agreed, installing a CPU is a 1 minute job - so long as you are careful and don't do anything stupid it will go in fine.

As for the CPU cooler - after using a wide range of CPU cooler types I finally used Prolimatech's mounting mechanism. This is the way CPU mounting should be done and worth the price premium IMHO due to the ease of use and solid mounting.

Ive been looking at barebone PC on this site and i came across this cheape BareBone PC which is £59.99. If i did get a bare bone pc i would get one with a better PSU then this but below is a list what ive put to gether for this PC. I was wondering if i was on the right track and putting the right components in this machine. Also do i need to buy extra cables fans etc for the cpu and case fan and any other things i need?.

Thanks for any info

To be clear - in most games that PC will be about the same speed or slower than your existing one - since the graphics card is the same model and the CPU is a 2.93GHz Dual core compared to your 2.4GHz Quad core. Also, if this is a barebones were the motherboard is already installed into the case then this makes CPU, CPU cooler and RAM installation more difficult compared to if you just took a motherboard out of it's retail box and installed this kit onto the board while it was sitting on a non-conductive surface outside of the case. Also, please note that the PSU used in that barebones is not great quality and I would not suggest running a HD 5770 graphics card with it.

If you want to make a PC yourself then I suggest you either upgrade your existing one (perhaps a new case, graphics card, SSD and overclock it) or invest considerably more an build a PC that is significantly faster than your existing one. It doesn't make sense to me to build a PC of around the same spec as your current one and try and sell your old one.

So you want to spend over £350 on DDR2 memory, old crap LAG775 socket etc and a 5770 card?

did you not see post #2?

You come here asking for advice on what to get, and you come up with that?
