Arthur Scargill the socialist

I've been face-plaming most of Biohazard's and Superewza's posts all afternoon!

+1 I just wonder when superewezas actually finishes school and gets a job, and see's how much the government rapes off of him every month to pay for all the socialism that is currently present, his tune will change or not.

Then I'm left with the only possible conclusion that you're trolling?

The poorest 10% today have higher incomes, taking into account inflation and excluding anomalous recession data, than they did 10, 20, 30, 40, etc years ago.

Just as the rich have done. The gap has increased, sure, but everybody is better off.

Of course they are, but the relationship between capital and labour has rarely looked worse and the supression continues unabated.

Where as the rich are condensing far more wealth than before, globally.

When does it stop?

When it looks like 1%/99% distribution of wealth poor/rich?

Capitalism doesn't solve problems. It moves them around. The country has massive, crippling debt? Just move it on to the working class folk! It's perfect isn't it?

Well i guess you had better improve your understanding. As a Socialist i would believe in the use of Socialism as a transitional phase from Capitalism to Communism during which the negative ideas of money and class and state are steadily destroyed while simultaneously paving the way for a self sufficient, communal civilization.

How does it come about though? Through our democratic system? What if people don't want it?

I have answered it though.

There is nothing forcing you to live in a "capitalist" way when part of a capitalist system.

Yes there is, simply existing in the society forces you through lack of competition.

You can get a group of people together, and go do whatever you please.
Capitalism doe snot force you to do anything, if you can find a means to survive without capitalism then you are free to do so ....

That isn't the answer to the problems I raise rypt, but nice strawman.

Only a clairvoyant could answer, I'm afraid. But this is the natural progression, once distribution reaches a certain point then redistribution begins naturally. It's a process.

Because it appears that enough people aren't willing to look after those less fortunate without a certain level of obligation being placed upon them.

You can look at it from either a moral or a practical level - morally I'd say we've each got a basic duty of care to our fellow man that people shouldn't be starving. Practically it's more trouble to not provide some basic level of support as without it people would struggle and that may lead to higher crime amongst other undesirable consequences.

I agree with your sentiments about caring for those who are in need but surely, we all contribute to those who are less well off through our tax system?

It is an answer.

Capitalism leaves you free to do as you please, you can survive in any (legal) way that you see fit.

The only thing capitalism prevents is for you to force others to owe you a living.

Even then on that level an opt out isn't viable.

For a supporter of a system that's so inclined to destroy ideas of class, you've had surprisingly little in the way of problems with identifying and demonising "the rich" to further your own goals.
