I've been a fan of the little known NiGHTS series for a couple of years, too young for when the original was first around on the Saturn in 1996, something I've rectified since then. Since then, there has been a Japan only remake of the original game onto the PS2, a Wii sequal which was... rather average unfortunately. And the characters have made several appearances in other Sonic team games.

And the community is a very vocal one, despite being fairly small. Recently, we were able to convince SUMO digital into squeezing NiGHTS into the game as the flagperson.

The two people who run the fansite www.nightsintodreams.com are the backbone of the community, TRiPPY has been asked by Sega several times to cosplay as NiGHTS for publicity events, and were able to secure an interview with Yuji Naka who produced the original NiGHTS game.

Anyway, history lesson over, this month was NiGHTS' 14th birthday, and for its 15th, we've been campaigning to get some sort of remake released in Europe and the US. Via the means of a website and a 'vote' button. Its nothing complicated, just a button to press, and I'd appreciate any clicks people make!

Scroll down slightly and just click the 'fans' button, that's it. Thanks in advance!

And... this thread is now for discussion of the NiGHTS series! Yay!

Cracking game back in the day, i had the one that came with the analog controller although i think they all did ... and i do believe Christmas Nights was gave away free on the cover of a magazine ?
I could never play it these days though, i am too old, too slow and would find it too confusing so i am defintely glad i got to enjoy it back in it's (and mine) heyday .. lol.

Always good to have a trip down memory lane so i will be checking those links that iviv posted.

Well, its not as well known to these modern, long haired gamers! Back in the day we were happy with platformers, none of this shooting people malarky! We just used to do a loop-the-loop around them and that was it! Bah!

And thanks for the support! :D

MattyH, the Wii version was OK, though some of the levels were terrible. Plus the removal of some bosses and replacing them with others (Jackle! >: ( ) was rather annoying. And I found the Wii couldn't really keep up in 2p games, it seemed to stutter a little. But still, a new NiGHTS game was always welcomed!

One of the few killer apps for the Saturn back in the day and a classic.

The NiGHTS pinball stage in the Casino level on Sonic Adventure is such a wonderful tribute too. I loved the music on that.

Yeah, its a shame the Saturn ended up doing so badly, but the competition was just better :(

Still, the fact that they include NiGHTS in sonic games shows its not completely forgotten. Plus. TRiPPY (The woman who runs nid.com ) now works for Sumo digital, who made the saga all stars racing, and work with sega on several games, so she's in a bit of a position to push for something to happen XD

Been almost a year, and here's a quote from iMAGNi:

Hiya guys!

I'm the admin of main NiGHTS fan site NiGHTSintoDreams.com and also co-owner of a large internet petition over at www.NiD15.com

Last year we started a petition to have the original classic Saturn game (or the JP PS2port) ported to things like XBLA, PSN etc etc for download to play on current modern systems!

So far we have over 5000 supporters and I'm doing my best to spread the word about this magical and artistic game.

I know you see a lot of failtastic petitions online that amount to nothing, but ours is different. Much different.
Here are some facts about our campaign:

- SEGA has announced a port of classic Saturn game 'Guardian Heroes' recently, thus proving that Saturn ports CAN be done.
- SEGA US, EU and JP are aware of this campaign, even refering and linking to it on occassion via official blogs and video.
- We were allowed to promote the campaign at the UK Summer of Sonic convention which in turn is funded by SEGA.
- Yuji Naka (The previous head of Sonic Team) is in favour of our campaign.
- Takashi Iizuka knows of our campaign.
- Numerous mainstream gaming websites have promoted our campaign including the likes of Kotaku.
- Previously we directly influenced SEGA to add NiGHTS as Flagman to Allstars Racing which was a huge achievement for our fanbase.
- This year is NiGHTS' 15th anniversary alongside Sonic's 20th.
- It is common knowledge that NiGHTS was already ported to the PS2 with improved graphics in Japan only a couple of years ago.
- SEGA seem to be releasing a lot of classic ports lately from their back catalogue of IP's.

Now a few of you may only have had the experience of playing the Wii game 'Journey of Dreams'. Like it or dislike it, you need to experience WHY so many people wanted NiGHTS to return in the first place and make up your own mind about the original. By voting for this (just by clicking a simple button!) you will be helping immensely.

It's only takes a few seconds to click our button. So if you want the chance to play this beautiful game then come to our site and give us your support:

The music on that video is great.

http://www.nightsintodreams.com/NiD/fanmusic/temp/Twin_Seeds_Flyby.mp3

A remix of a song from the two games:
Twin seeds: Growing Wings from NiGHTS into Dreams, and

Growing Wings, from NiGHTS Journey of Dreams.

Its going to be part of an album, though I don't know if its going to be a paid for or free one though, I've not been keeping track of it, besides that its been 2 years in the making, and will be released in 2 months time.

Got to admit, I've never really understood why Nights was considered so good. Just one of those games that has never clicked or appealed to me :shrugs:

Same, I remember when the very first one was released. I never gave the game a try mind.

Although I have voted.

No worries, I could say the same about MW2 for instance, thankfully everyone likes different things :p
