Couple of quick question regarding Insurance.

1) Is it legal to be insured on a car as the main driver if the owner of the car is different on the V5. So for example lets say a car is bought in my Dad's name, but I am the main driver and insured as the main driver and my Dad does not drive the car at all and we both have different registered addresses.

2) Is it legal to have your home address different to the one where the car is parked during day and night. So for example I live in X house, but the car is parked near y house.

3) Is it legal to put my home address as X and live there and park there also, but your registered as living in Y?

That's all folks. :D

Cheers

Yes, as long as the insurance know that it is in your dad's name (in my experience they usually ask) and where the car is usually kept overnight. IE your house.

Not illegal, but it might void your insurance if they find out. Then you could be in trouble.

I don't quite understand your question.

You're welcome!

I thought a lot of insurers ask for registered address and where the car is kept at night, which might cover this, though im not 100% sure.

Cheers.

But on the Insurance sites they allow you to select a different postcode to your home where your car will be kept.

To give an example.

Lets say I am registered as living in X house and paying rent their, get some of my bills there, etc.

But I have another home where I live most of the time, lets say a family home or something and I put the address of this house on my insurance, both as my address and as the address where the car will actually be kept at.

It's not unusual to keep a car at a different address than the one you get post sent to, but you need to tell the insurer where the car will be kept truthfully.

with the address, you can get your mail sent to a different address but the risk address , where the car is keep, needs to be accurate otherwise the insurance would be invalid as where the car is kept is a major rating factor

Cheers, so where the car is mainly kept at is pretty much the main thing and not the place where you may sleep at :D

exactly, for example you might buy yourself a garage separate to your place of residence, so they would put your mail address to where you reside and the risk address to where the garage is, that why then they are rating on the postcode of the garage not the postcode of your residence
