GCSE's begin

 Few people i know finished their courses quite early in this year. I have to wait until 2nd June for my freedom :(..

Best of luck! :)

Thanks, good luck to you too.

It is so strange trying to code with pen and paper. I don't think I have properly written anything down since last year's exams.

Im doing 13 GCSE's I took Maths early and got an A with no revision.

I'm taking Further maths, physics, computing and psychology in A levels next year and I'm also doing rugby as an elective.

Yay me...

Haha, if it werent for lecture notes i wouldnt write anything between exams each year :D.

What I mean by further maths is Maths + further maths.

A rubgy elective is a lesson you do every week as an extra you can do either a sport, music or a language GCSE such as Japanese or Latin.

Does it particularly matter if you only take three A Levels?

Shouldnt do if you're looking at a university application. Iirc, universities can only give offers in up to 3 subjects (as some schools can't offer more than 3 per student). 4 does give you a bit more academic breadth for them to base an offer on though if one of the subjects you do is a bit 'less well regarded' as it were.

I am sitting the same one tomorrow, Should be relatively easy seeing as we already have the articles apart from that its just making stuff up. I am still unsure on what to do for A level, but i take it you are allowed to take more than 4 where you are or something? I was planning on doing Maths, Physics, Computing and Business studies, Deep Joy :D

Not really, I think most uni's only give you offers for 3 eg. AAB or something, just make sure you don't pick any 'soft' subjects.

Well i was thinking Maths, Phyics and Biology, the only other option i would even be remotely interested in from the options left is Law, but i'm not sure if i should do it... i'll probably take it then drop it after a few weeks if i don't like it.

is the age in your profile correct? :p If so then my day was before yours and they were still a piece of **** back then..

Yep, my profile is correct - I was wondering if anyone would notice. I was just practicing being an old man, or else I won't know what to do when I become one. :p

For actual A levels I don't think it does particularly matter, as long as all 3 are going to be accepted by universities (so no general studies). However, you may enjoy doing more, and it could give you a better chance of getting good results (unless the fourth adversely affects your study of the other three). I really like doing more than three as I think it is interesting to learn about a wider range of topics, and I enjoy the academic challenge, however if you don't really like doing them then you might prefer to stick to 3.

For AS levels, even if you are planning to drop to 3 A2s, I'd still do 4+, as it shows any admissions tutors you might be able to handle a bit more work, and gives a wider range of topics, which I can only see acting in your favour. Also, it means that if you really don't like one of the subjects at A level, or are undecided between two degrees with slightly different entry requirements, then it gives you more room to manoeuvre.

Well I heard that some might see Biology as a softer science, not that sure as I don't do it. Might be better off with further maths.

Physics + Biology is a bad A level combination.

You shoud do either one with chemistry. Biology if you find physics too hard, physics if you are clever enough for it. Or you can do all three. But dont do either one without Chemistry.

Biology is just like history and geography, its purely memory based, although it does focus fully on science and not on maths, which is great for people who suck at maths like I did.

I only 6 Bs, 2 Cs, 1 D (English lit, only prepared one of the two questions) and 1 E (German, I didnt understand a single thing in German).
