The old man of a friend of mine recounts an anecdote about how in their mischievous youth they manufactured touch explosives, pasted it on low stone walls and scattered bird seed on the top.

I'd just like to clarify something regarding this point.
I'd personally as a Catholic from Norn Iron, prefer if everyone referred to the dissident republicant terrorist groups as 'spastic thickos', and their name of rIRA and cIRA changed to ST, in this way it would clearly define their idology for the rest of the world.
They have no political mandate, they have no public support, and they are psychopathic muppets who sit to the extreme left of left, so far they're probably ultrarightwing.
Sorry for insulting any spastics, but I think such a name change would be beneficial in reducing the small numbers of muppets joining 'the cause'.
They have a history of only blowing up Catholic towns anyway, no reason they mightn't change to hit London, but they prefer to blow up the mainstreets where they do their shopping. Makes perfect sence to them. There really should be some form of derp internet meme for them.


Hopefully no bomb in London today.

Could be genuine, could be preparation for future attacks. Phoney bomb threats give terrorists a chance to examine our response to such threats. I'm not worried. Then again, I'm not in Central London but I know people who are.

Funny, yea and all that.

We should be calling them the IRA, not the rIRA cIRA or any other IRA. It's the same members, ethos and weapons as it always was. Their mates and past leaders did the very same thing as they do today.

A Coded warning is the way the IRA send out warnings of real devices that are in play (been left/planted) it’s a term and method that came into effect in Northern Ireland when the IRA would call the local newspaper offices and leave a warning of a bomb in an area/town – They would leave a code word with the warning – this was a predetermined word that is recognised by the Police, IRA and Newspaper. So they knew it was a real device and not just Mr Joe Spide calling off the street from the local phone box.

The code is to identify that the warning is genuine and in the past has given an area so that police can clear it. I presume that is what you mean by regular?

Also, I thought the idea of a bomb was to blow stuff and people up. Why tell them where to allow police to clear it?

I clearly know nothing about the way terrorists work.

Do you already know how to manufacture explosives? A lot of the people at the training camps do not go to school, or did not, or had poor science lessons.

Also, the point is to terrorise not kill.

I'm really sorry, but I'm a protestant from Northern Ireland and I completely disagree. I've been campaigning for years for the UVF and UDA to have their names changed to 'spastic thickos' and we're not going to let you steal the ST monicker... :D

i assume, if they do warn prior, their motives are to gain publicity, rather than kill innocent civilians. I could well be wrong though.
