Hi, could anyone spec me a 2600k please with a Z68 and 12gb ram?

Not too sure about the new motherboards, but I'm pretty sure this is good RAM? Seems expensive though?

Any help appriciated! Thanks

You wouldn't want to mix specification of RAM and for best effect, you should populate 2 slots at a time (on a dual-channel board like sandybridges).

Either go with 8GB until you outgrow it, or (I suggest) bump it to 16GB at 4x the same sticks of RAM.

I think you'll want to use 2 or 4 sticks of ram to make sure you're in dual channel, hence 4X4 would be the best option imo.

What is the PC to be used for? Do you need Z68 or would P67 be enough?

Thanks for the help guys.

The PC's going to be used for vector graphics/graphic design/ video editing/ 3d work so the extra ram would really come in handy... :)

16gb seems overkill, I guess I'd never have a problem with having lots of programs running with that though!

May as well just go for 2X4 for the moment and add if you end up needing more, perhaps a SSD would be a decent investment also?

Good shout!

This looking ok?

yes. Dunno about the case, but for £100, you have a lot of choices. I am partial to the Lancool Dragon K62, and the Fractal Design XL. If you want the best out of hte 2600K, you should add a decent 3rd party cooler, or think of adding one later.

A friend has the case, and he recommends it.

That could be purchase justification reflect.

The 902 is an old design these days, Antec really do need to just start again instead of adding USB3.0 to such an old case, there are better cheaper cases on the market now. such as,

@stulid - cheers for those links, now its a toss up between coolermaster and the fractal. :D

any particular reason you want a z68 board if your gonna be using a graphics card?
