BMW Salesman Said To Me Yesterday...

My salesman told me the 535d was keeping up with the M5 on YouTube. Therefore, FACT.

The salesman who was trying to flog me the z4m coupe i went to look at was trying to tell me how amazing a PCP was and how its the only way to buy a car these days. Evan when i sat there and ruined every part of his logic all he could say was " You just dont understand the way a PCP works" hahahahaha got to love salesmen ;)

It's not unique to them either. Before our car plans changed we were looking for an economical second car. Phoned a local Audi dealer and asked if they had a 2.0 TDI A3 that we could test drive. We were told yes and got there to be given the keys to a 2.0T petrol and told they didn't in fact have a TDI in that we could drive, but it didn't matter as "They were very similar performance and felt about the same". He then spent the whole journey demonstrating how little he knew about the car and seemed more worried about bragging to us about the R8 he'd driven a couple of days earlier.

Idiots - where do they find them?

Car sales men in my experience the best thing they have ever managed was putting that suit on in the morning!

I wanted a TT (I now have) at 21 and went into a dealer and they were rude and stated you wont get one you wont be able to insure it! Since then I take great plsure parking right at the front and smilling at the ****** as I walk in!

Scooby salesman told my mate when we went for a test drive that the reason for them making that boxster engine note was because the cylinders were different sizes! PMSL

Finished there now, back home for a month then working in Kazakhstan on a weeks on 4 weeks off rotation and want something nice for my 4 weeks off :D

Do you mean 1 week on, 4 weeks off or 4 weeks on 4 weeks off?

Something I must say is that my local BMW dealer:

BMW Fairfield
Arterial Road
Leigh-on-Sea
Essex
SS9 4XX

Have actually been pretty damn good over the number of years that I have used them.

The one the mother in law uses in Cheltenham is amazing!
The Dealer in the next town is Terrible!

It does all depend on the dealer. I just dislike car salesmen!

We'd be here all day if I listed the random things sales 'executives' for franchised dealers had told me.

They know how to sell cars - that is what they are for - and for this it seems detailed product knowledge etc etc just isn't needed.

Unfortunately you're right - most people will lap it up. Me? I'd be happier left alone and dealing with a dumb chip and pin machine to make a payment if I like the car. The average motors forum member having spent 10 minutes with a car configuration or brochure knows more than the car salesman. God knows what material they use to train them.
