Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I was looking on Myprotein, they sell a lot of different supplments. A few of them caught my eye:

Mega Green Tea Extract - 90 tablets for £10 - Due to its thermogenic and anti-oxidant properties, Green Tea Extract has also shown great results as a fat burner and weight loss supplement. This advanced extract contains 98% total Polyphenols and 50% EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate). In laymans terms each capsule provides the equivalent of between 8 and 9 cups of green tea.

Alpha Men Super Multi Vitamin - 120 tablets for £10 - Alpha Men - Super Multi Vitamin brings together a unique and highly effective blend of high potency vitamins and minerals essential for the health and well being of the active man. This powerful multivitamin combines the most premium source of each individual vitamin and mineral to form one of the most powerful multivitamin supplements on the market.

Thermopure - 90 tablets for £15 - Thermopure is a cutting edge thermogenic formula designed to help aid fat loss. It blends some of the most powerful natural ingredients to form a potent Thermogenic Blend. When combined with an effective diet and exercise routine, Thermopure's ingredients have been proven to help burn and mobilise fat stores in the body.

They do look interesting and from reading some reviews they seem to be effective, but does anyone here know anything about them?

I would like to lose the excess body fat/weight I have right now (about 5-6lbs) so is it worth buying the Mega Green Tea Extract - 90 tablets for £10? They have a lot of good properties and according to Myprotein they can help with burning fat and act as a weight loss supplement.

Hi mate

Green tea is ok, and has some thermogenic properties, but as I'm sure you're aware, just taking it on it's own won't do anything. Coupled with a good clean diet and a good amount of cardio and you'll reap the benefits

Well my diet is pretty clean I would say, I eat fish & chicken breasts everyday with salad/vegetables. I have a multivitamin tablet every morning and I drink a few litres of water everyday. I don't eat any sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks, processed food, microwave food or fast food.

I do 3/4 intense workouts per week, each lasting around 45 minutes to a hour. I'm starting to do 45 minutes of cardio each day too so hopefully the diet and cardio I'm doing now will give me a great boost in fat loss with these green tea tablets.

I bought the green tea tablets so hopefully they will give me a lot of benefits, according to Myprotein one tablet is equivalent to 8-9 cups of green tea which is a lot!

Anyway the product information:

Mega Green Tea Extract is a premier Green Tea extract produced from the leaves of a plant called Camellia Sinensis. This advanced extract contains 98% total Polyphenols and 50% EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate). In laymans terms each capsule provides the equivalent of between 8 and 9 cups of green tea.

Green Tea Extract has long been used by the Chinese as medicine to treat headaches, body ache, poor digestion, and improve well-being and life expectancy. Mega Green Tea Extract contains a high level of polyphenols (a bioflavonoid), and it is also a rich source of EGCG (a powerful antioxidant), that is over 100 times more potent than Vitamin E in fighting free radicals and pro-oxidants.

Due to its thermogenic and anti-oxidant properties, Green Tea Extract has also shown great results as a fat burner and weight loss supplement. Unlike other fat burning supplements, Mega Green Tea Extract does not have the side effect of raising your heart rate.

Just saw this on bodybuildingdotcom :o
daily shakes

50g protein per

at least its chocolate, not enjoying my unflavoured whey right now :(

Is that healthy having that many protein shakes a day??? That's 400g of protein lol.

And unflavoured whey is actually nice with milk, it makes the milk taste creamier in my opinion, you could also try mixing nesquik milkshake powder with it too :p

Has jack3d got weaker?

I bought a tub recently after a few month off, Got the bubblegum one and it doesnt seem half as strong as my old grape one I had. that stuff worked throughout the whole tub, this seems a lot more mild.

maybe the other flavouring gave me a kick lol

I did that the last couple of times (stole it from my housemate) but hes run out and buying my own kind of negates getting unflavoured to save money :p

Haha, well the price of impact whey from Myprotein is going to increase by £6-£9 from tonight, so you better buy some if you're nearly out lol.

Hasn't changed afaik. How many scoops did you take? I take 3 and find it gives me the best results.

just under 2 scoops, I never used to take that much previously. Never took more than 2 scoops. Maybe its just the tolerance thing.

Anybody tried Syntha-6 before, how do you rate it?

Also I hear a lot of people talking about BCAA tablets, how do you rate these, what are they actually for?

Syntha seems to be just another protein powder with BCAA and Glutamine sprinkled in. Pick up a bag of 2.5kg Impact Whey, Glutamine and BCAA's from MP for the same price and it'll last you 5 times longer. These companies do make my smile with their esoteric-like supplement names and slick marketing. Even I get seduced sometimes by the promises and even hardcore package labelling.

BCAA is supposedly handy for adding lean mass and helping your body stay anabolic. I personally don't use them as the taste originate from the depths of hell but they are supposed to be very good. Never tried it in tablet form, might give it a go.

BCAAs also do a briliant job at recovery, they do taste absolutely vile though.

tip: orange and mango juice from tesco masks the taste to the point where it's fairly bearable, make sure you shake really hard before though.

I've been eyeing up BCAA's of late, am I right thinking they might be of particular benefit to me considering I'm training fasted? I go the gym ~1hours after waking with just some caffeine beforehand.

I've been training like this since Christmas time, and I'm used to it now before anyone moans about fasted training. IME if your used to training fasted, its ok similarly if your used to training x hours after a meal its ok.
