My fiddy is STILL in Sytner. They STILL haven't managed to fix it.
The last update I got on Monday was that they tried to update the car's software and their programming rig crashed or something, trashing my ECU.
They are trying to source a new ECU and have the car re-coded and re-programmed.

It's been in Sytner since Tuesday 10th May. They say that they won't have any further news for me until Friday this week and it's unlikely I will get it back this week.

So, in the 18 days since I picked the car up. It's been back to BMW twice and I've actually been able to drive it for 9 days.

TBH, I don't want it back now. My whole experience has been sullied and I just either want my money back, or a different car.

Sorry to hear of the issues. Perhaps when they fix it - if they offered some compensation, would you keep it?

It's such a nice car :(

almost ever time I have had initial problems with a car its later had more issues, personally I'd want money back or a different car...

I remember reading something about giving them 3 clear chances to sort out problems before being within your right to request a refund.

Isn't there something like a 28 day/1000 mile refund thing they do?

Don't blame you for not wanting it back but be prepared for a fight.

No

but if i were to try to do this i'd be going to BMW directly. Do BMW have a customer services you can ring ?

That's a good plan. I'm going to give them until Friday anyway. If it's not fixed and perfect by then, I shall be calling and starting the process to reject the car.

sounds precisely like my Lotus experience with my exige, I got my cash back after 45 days of onwership and 3 days of driving.....

I can't see any reason why they would refuse to refund you.

This is from BMWs site

We're confident in the quality of our BMW Approved Used Cars. So confident in fact that if we can't resolve a fault that occurs within the first 30 days or 1,000 miles of your ownership (whichever is sooner), you'll be entitled to an exchange, or refund if an appropriate exchange can't be found.

This doesn't affect your statutory rights.

I'd start the ball rolling now with the dealer and suggest that you are considering rejecting the car under the AUC conditions.

IIRC, this is the "lemon law" in America, so obviously, not applicable in the UK.

I have, we bought a 335i a couple of years ago, it was full of problems so the agreed to give us our money back in the end. We had the car for 6 months and put 12k miles on it.

It should be noted that the second hand prices of the car had gone up since we bought the car which is why I think they gave us the money back.
