Would a Q6600 be enough for a GeForce GTX 560 Ti?

I was planning on building a new PC late this year but my GTX280 card is on the way out. I was thinking about perhaps buying a GeForce GTX 560 Ti to extend the life of the system and delay a full rebuild till next year. Would a Q6600 be enough or is a GTX 560 a waste with such an old CPU? My other option is to just buy a basic 3dcard then go ahead with a rebuild later. That or get a gtx460 perhaps?

I am not bothered if there is a little bit of a CPU bottleneck, just if there is a massive bottleneck what’s the best match GPU for the CPU? What ever I get will only be for 6 to 12 months when I do a real rebuild.

Assuming the Q6600 is overclocked to 3GHz or more it should be enough. You will still be cpu limited to a degree in some games (BFBC2) but the general performance will still be excellent.

Have you overclocked you Q6600 or is it stock?

If it's stock their may be a slight bottleneck, but if it's OC to say 3GHz I would say no bottleneck.

I see oweneades has already said...lol

Thanks, it’s not overclocked but if I recall it hit 3ghz back in the past (EDIT:Not got a stock cooler so can overclock it again). Might have to invest in that again. I have to say the Q6600 has been the best CPU I have had in a long time. Never kept a CPU this long before, its hard to bealive a CPU over 3 years old is still ok today.

I know what you mean, had my Q9550 4 years in july  I've never had a CPU more than 2 years before this.
