Budget £500 Car!!

Joined 9th of May....Only 6 posts and asking about a £500 car. Pull the other one mate. I want copies of bank statements and 6 years worth of wage slips before I fall for that one.

Fall for what one??? Genuine questioned asked i don't see why i have to be a member for 3 years or what ever to ask questions. Have you ever thought i may have joined to ask this question?? If you don't want to answer that is fine.

£500 mk2 Mondeo served me well for just over a year, traded it in for £450 too.

If she can't handle a large car, best condition Fiesta with a years MOT.

He was being sarcastic, read this thread for reference.

Thanks, she's just had a Fiesta and is not really in a hurry to get another. I've found a Ka what are peoples opinions on these?

My sister has one, a MK1 Ka. I've driven it a few time and it felt the same as my Mk1 Fiesta. Flimsy and cheap. It has been very reliable though and she's had it for almost 4 years now. If she's after something solid then I would not suggest one.

Try looking for a 306, I bought my dturbo for £550 in january and have it used it daily without any problems. I'm also getting 40mpg out of it so it's ridicuously cheap to run!

Cheap to run, £500 and 12 months MOT.

Be lucky to get all of those. Anything small with long MOT is going to be an ideal first driver car and will carry a slight premium.

Better doubling your budget to £1000 imo, will open up to a lot more/better cars then. A £500 car isn't much good if it costs you £200 straight off for some new brakes/tyres or repairs.

I'd check out Autotrader, eBay and perhaps Gumtree as they'll be able to give you exactly what's available in your local area - pick the best you can find out of the results these sites give you. Come back with a short list and some links to the cars if you're unsure which to buy.

mk2 mondeo mine has served me well even though it was bought as a stop gap. Comfy and reliable ok it's bing but it does the job.

But by far the most important thing is to buy on history and condition.

Nissan Primera's can be had quite cheap too.

Thats a bit of over kill to be honest just want a small hatch back up to 1.4 idealy just for my sister and her 4 year old. Thanks for your help though.
