Laptops and PDAs subforum - poll and discussion please!

I think that with the way technology is trending, PDAs don't feature much in the digital lifestyle any more. I propose that this forum is renamed to Laptops and Tablets instead, what do you think?

Not wanting to come across as too pedantic, but wouldn't "Mobile Computing" be more logical, given that laptops fall under mobile computing?

I think an issue with this seems to be that Ipads are covers in the Apple Hardware forum, and Android based tablet threads all get chucked into the Mobile section

The iPad (tablet) has its own home. The Android tablet stuff is rightly in the Mobile Phone forum as it shares both operating system and apps with smartphones. The threads are few and far between and we’ve had a discussion in there whether to split off the Android stuff and the consensus was to leave alone for the time being. Also given that all Android devices will share the next major release of the OS later this year fragmentation is pointless.

If anything change the current forum name to say, “laptops, netbooks and windows tablets”. This should keep all camps happy for quite a while.

If the ipad and android ones were actually in the right places and there was no argument about where each sat then this could be worthwhile.

As it is though, this place seems to like not having things in the right place, or what seems to be the right place.

All in all, it will make things more messy imo.

Many Android tablets are 3G devices but Windows tablets most certainly are not large mobile phones. They have separate homes.
