New belt smells like fish.

Ok, bit of back story first.

Last couple of days I noticed a fishy smell coming from my,,,crotch area. At first I thought it was down to a sweaty ballsack after a long day, but even after a nice shower and thorough washing, after putting my jeans back on and sitting back down I noticed the smell was back, and again seemed to be coming from my crotch.

Google revealed that it could be down to STI's or general infections such as yeast infection/thrush, so I was slightly worried.

HOWEVER, putting my jeans on today, I noticed the smell straight away again after literally hopping out the shower. I then realised that I had bought a new belt from river island a couple of days ago. I picked it up and took a long hard sniff, and yea, it stinks of fish. Google says it's common with cheap belts using a tanning method involving fish oil, however this belt was £18 and I quite like it, so was wondering if anyone know of ways to get the smell out?

TL;DR My crotch smelt of fish and I thought I had an STI, turns out it was my new leather belt. How do I get the smell out.

EDIT: Rub a lemon all over it to eliminate the odour. Or use FEEEEBREEEEZEEE.

Surely the belt would have been the obvious thing to smell straight away? a new item would have been more obvious to me than oh wait I might have an STI

Or is this some subliminal 'I had sex and thought I had an STI' thread?

Cant help on the smell though sorry, other than washing it in warm water and maybe febreeze?

I'm sure if you explained the situation fully - hell, why not even take a print of this thread in to the shop. I'm sure they would give you an exchange for one that doesn't stink of fish.
