The age old question - What to do with a 'cancelled' item that's just arrived?

As the title really. Ordered some Sennheiser CX300 II earphones, cancelled the order shortly afterwards (as my common sense kicked in and realised that if my last 3 pairs died after moderate use that I shouldn't get another).

Anywho, they've dropped onto my doormat today, I haven't been charged for them. What do?

Aye, my first thought was to keep them in their full package and await a request to return them. I shan't be returning them at my own cost if it's their error.

One obvious question, how long after-the-fact can they ask for you to return them?

As the goods are not unsolicited, contact the company and point out their mistake and offer to store items for money or offer to return them, again for money. Or, arrange a collection at your convenience (night or weekend).

If you just keep them you run the risk of them charging you for the goods.

Drop them an e-mail and let them know. It's up to them to cover delivery charges, etc.

I didn't get charged for an item once, so e-mailed the company to let them know and they replied that I could keep the item as a gift due to being helpful/honest.

Honesty isn't zero-sum. I won't preach here as frankly I don't really care either way, but I think the decent thing to do - and what I would do - is contact the company and let them know. They can collect it at your convenience or allow you to keep it.

This. Remember, you can easily be charged for it, they will do stock checks.

Deny ever receiving them? It's dishonest, but they could have got "lost" in the post.

I only say this because you said they landed on your doorstep. If you actually signed for them then keep them in the box for a couple of weeks and wait and see what happens.

Meanwhile, head over to MM see what money people will offer you for them and also buy some cheap in eat headphones to see you through for a couple of weeks.

Just let 'em know, they're not a really expensive product and considering the cost/hassle of arranging a courier to collect them they'll probably let you keep them.

With my past experience with this model of earphones it's not like I really want them either!

Will drop them an email and go from there, cheers chaps :)
