anyone have any experience of the best type of hard drive and file system for an external hard drive on a Panasonic TV please

read some wont work but not what ones..

we use a WD drive at work for our telly's no problems at all, and as said above the telly formats it, it will then only work on that telly unless you re format it.

excellent thanks
just found out they recommend a buffalo one so if my Seagate fails to work..

upto 2tb so i will see what works lol

WESTERN DIGITAL Elements External Hard Drive - 2TB works great on panasonic TVs I have 2 connected to my TXP50G20B one acting as a PVR and other for multimedia files. They are going for £69.99 at the moment at a high street computer store ;) just google you will see where I mean..

AFAIK panasonic only recommend Buffalo external drives for recording live-TV to a USB attached HDD but i dont know if thats the only model that actually works or not.

Just out of interest, what purpose is there for plugging external hard drives into TVs (legally)? Can you set your Sky+ to record onto it?

You can also playback movie collections you might have backed-up onto the HDD etc. Mt Panasonic TV will playback VOB's and DivX etc..
