Well of course not, in some cases it's better as you enjoy the game more.
Funny, I find a game more immersive and enjoyable without things popping up saying I achieved something.

Alpha Protocol is really poor isn't it.
Checkpoints for me is a pretty big fail.

I had that problem. You don't login with your username, you login with your email address!
