Hello Gents,

I'm looking into getting a lease car through my work. I meet the requirements (travel over 3k a year for work) and it's starting to look very attractive to me, especially as my current car averages about 20mpg!

I reckon driving a 60mpg car should pay for the monthly lease cost with fuel savings.

Here are some of the quotes, to give you an idea. They're based on 9k private miles and 3k business miles.

Alfa Romeo Mito Distinctive 1600 3/Diesel £184.07
Mini One Pepper 1600 3/Diesel £165.71
MINI COOPER D 1600 3/DIESEL £146.59
VW GOLF BLUE MOTION 1600 3/DIESEL £190.03
VW POLO SE TDI 1200 3/DIESEL £162.19
Ford Fiesta Zetec 1250 5/Petrol £112.55
Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1600 3/Diesel £96.13
Citroen DS3 Sport 1600 3/Diesel £182.87

Now, unsurprisingly I'm interested in the Fiesta Zetec S TDCI. Because the co2 output is so low, there are no additional tax consequences for me.

I currently spend £57 to fill my car which covers about 180 miles and it's killing me using it every day. From what I can work out, the Fiesta covers over 500 miles for the same amount of diesel.

Can anyone see a downside to this?

£25 a week to drive a brand new Fiesta with everything bar fuel is an amazing deal I think. I would be taking that up if you wanted to keep mileage down on your 'fun' car.

I'd pay the extra ton and get the golf. Much bigger nicer more useful car, and still a cracking deal at under 200 quid all inclusive.

The Fiesta for £96 is the best deal by miles IMO.

What are the cost of breaking your agreed mileage?

Awesome deal that!

Not a great car by any means, but for dossing about in and its not as if diesel is going to cost you a fortune. Infact this deal could save you a bit of cash.

Where do you get a quote for NHS lease? I might have a look at these.

The problem is it doesn't apply to the whole of the NHS If your PCT- Trust is not signed up then you cant apply, I looked into this sometime ago as work for Manchester PCT and even though we are a massive organisation we for some reason hadn't signed up Or we hadn't been contacted by the lease company to see if we were interested. If I remember right it was a north east company and they were trying to add more and more trusts as they went along.

Is there are website that shows participating PCTs? Or is it a case of contacting your PCT? Im probably going to have to change my car in the next year or so, and being in GP land, i will be commuting loads. Currently travelling 80 miles a day and its really killing my wallet!
