Hellgate London is back again almost!

I know this wasn't the best game when it first shipped and the starting levels where plain and boring but towards the end it was great. The Stonehenge Chronicles and The Abyss Chronicles are still today was one of my favourite parts of any game and by that point most of the reasons people say Hellgate was bad had been fixed or removed.

Free to play with an ingame shop for items with real money. I assume stuff like 20% more XP. Buy Health potions and the like.

You can now sign up for the beta. Seems to be a 50/50 chance if an account gets let in. (Just thouht a beta of a 4 year old game thats already shipped, is that a record?)

I remember playing this at a mates when it first came out. We spent an hour trying to figure out how to use the chat and even then when we used it we never saw any one reply. It seemed so dead and this was like two weeks after release.

I tried playing this but it's just so ugly... it was supposed to be a DX10 showcase but it looks like crap. I also didn't really know what the hell I should be doing... pants.

I played it when I first came out and if I remember correctly it was absolutely terrible, I may give it another go but I don't have high hopes.

Aplologies for Necro post, but better than starting a new thread...

Played this over the weekend and I'm pleasantly surprised. It was pretty laggy in the stations, but it's only the first weekend of the re-release and everyone is still crammed into the low-level areas. I thought the combat is ok and classes varied enough. Major inventory problems and I encountered a bug or 2, but it's quite enjoyable for a F2P game. I think the setting is a winner for me.
Anyone else manage to get on over the weekend (there were queues once the US timezone was reached).

I had a go during the beta weekend last month and wasn't impressed at all.

It was severely laggy, controls and combat lacked any weight whatsoever, and the environments were ridiculously bland (almost all textures missing, for some reason?).

Still, might give it a go when it's finally "out there" as I do remember enjoying the brief stint I had on it, single player, when it was first released.

I used to really enjoy this game, didn't really convert to MP well at all and it also scaled pretty poorly level-wise but was still good fun making some unbelievably ridiculous guns etc.

Its free to play up to lvl 15ish, then you have to buy a ticket to get to the other area's $4.00 i think it is(then its full game with cash shop), not too bad.

They were having a lot of problems over the weekend but seems ok now.

Download is a whoppiong 6gig, no idea why its such a big d/l tho.
