Agghhhhh women !!!!! ( rant )

Most of the Indian takeaways near my area do a chef's specials menu, which all include rice - but these are in their own little section headed with "served with pilau rice". Assuming you get rice with a curry is the height of naivete :p

OP doesn't get an indian take out much does he? They never include rice unless its a biriyani.

Also, I would have called ahead and asked them to prepare extra rice so when I get there I can literally walk in and out again. Saying that, some take outs allow you to call ahead and order the whole thing for collection.

Just get the bloody rice. In this situation no good will ever come of not getting the rice. Short term moral high ground will crumble compared to "remember that time i went to get the ****** rice when you didnt make yourself clear? Speaking of not making yourself clear....(list examples since)...."

The logical answer - If you're in a relationship, you need to put up with her grumpy days without making her more grumpy... And eating just the curry meat without rice is a very manly thing to do - i don't think too many women would want to eat just meat on its own.

Irrational argument, caused by a woman, at a man who's simply tried to please her by getting her a meal....

And the OP is surprised???

EVERY Indian and chinese around here include boiled rice at no extra charge with ANY main dish.

But..... they ask you what type you want just to make sure - or you at least tell them (and it's an extra 30-50p if you want Pilau, Jasmine, fried rice / chips etc instead)

This. I always find takeaway rice dry and horrible.

You're ordering from the wrong takeaways :p

I've never got on with rice cookers, myself. Seems silly to have a device expressly for cooking something that's easier than a pot noodle.

Edit: And it always ends up sticky and overcooked. Then again, it always surprises me when people get rice so wrong on the hob.

Yea. Not many good takeaways around here. The rice always tastes like it's been made hours ago :(

To be fair, it probably has. The Chinese places in my area are a no-go unless it's a busy night - much better chance of things being fresher and not re-heated from yesterday's dross. I don't mind going round there and ordering it in person either, since they generally cook things from fresh in front of you. No problem with my regular curry house, though.
