Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition- pre-order on steam

Perhaps someone knows.. Will my TE fight stick work on the PC version?

Am considering a 4 pack if 3 people want to join me? Makes it £22.49 on Steam.. Will do a proper thread in MM if I know there's interest.

Email in trust :)

I don't get it:confused:?

On an online shop the PC retail disk is being dispatched on 24 June and is £17.86 if we preorder before 12pm on 22 June.

I thought PC version was being released in early July.

Anyone know if a playable demo of this will be released? I'm kinda interested but I'm held back by two problems:

1) I own a 360 Pad for PC and I'm not going to go and buy another pad just for a single game so I wanna see if it is as unplayable as people say.

2) I've never liked other Street Fighter games but I've been longing for Soul Calibur with online play for PC so I guess as a fighting game this might fill that gap.

Plug it in and see if it plug and plays. If so then yes. There is a chipset that apparently caused problems with the madcatz, but i can't remember which.

Also to those saying the pc ver just didn't play right. I have / had the PS3, 360 and pc ver of SF4 and they all played exactly the same, providing your pc is up for it. I seem to recall an option that needed changing, in options that fixed some lag online on the pc ver.

By saying 'arcade version' what dioes it actually mean? Is it exactly like the arcade version?

Street fighter III: 3rd strike is awesome on Capcom play system 3. X-men VS Street fighter is also awesome on MAME32.

Would it be as good as either of these (for gameplay, graphics i know it will be better)

AE was released after super and has a few new characters and balance tweaks.

Shame its not much more than a mini expansion as it just has 4 new characters and a bit of tweaking and probably new story with cutscenes. Id have hoped it would have had more characters.

Lots of new PC info here along with a few screenshots direct from Capcom!

Now, on the security side of things, SFIV unfortunately was plagued by pirates and hackers that messed up leaderboards. To hopefully remedy that, SSFIV:AE will be making use of what is called SSA technology (similar to what we used in Dead Rising 2). Like Xbox Live, players will sign in when they launch the game. You must have a Games for Windows Live account (which is free) in order to get full access to the title. If you already have an Xbox Live silver or gold account, those would work too and your achievements would be added/displayed in your usual gamescore.

Inevitably the question is: if you happen to temporarily lose your connection in the middle of your session (let’s say you’re working on combos in the training room or working on challenges), no problem. You’ll be able to keep doing what you’re doing until you come to a logical break point, like exiting to a menu, at which point you’ll be asked to sign back in. Assuming your PC is back online, everything will continue as it should, just like on Xbox 360.

If you aren’t signed in to an online GFWL profile, the offline mode has limited functionality. Obviously there’s no online play, access to replay channels or other online-centric features (and this is the part that keeps the online play secure from hackers or pirates). Additionally, you won’t be able to save any progress in challenges or settings, won’t have access to any DLC you’ve purchased and all local play will be restricted to 15 of the 39 characters.

To answer a few other questions before they get asked:

There are no installation limits. The game is tied to the user account with the SSA mechanism. You can install it a zillion times and as long as you’re logged in on the associated account, you’re good to go.

hmm not really happy about this

To further complement Sem;

From the comment section

If your internet "gets KOed" for a bit, and you're playing an online match, you're going to get knocked off online entirely and out of the match. Nothing anyone can do about that.

If your internet "gets KOed" for a bit and you're doing something offline (training, challenges, etc.), you'll get to keep doing exactly what you're doing until you finish that thing, then you will be prompted to log back in to GFWL to complete/get credit for it and be able to save. So "intermittent" internet outages shouldn't affect your moment to moment experiences at all (again unless you were doing something online, which is out of our control).

If you are not logged in in any way and are totally offline, you will only have access to 15 specific characters to do those offline activities. In short, you must be authenticated via SSA to have complete access to all content and services. If you haven't authenticated, we don't make it so you can't play the game at all, but we do limit what you can do.

Sven

'out of our control'. Oh please. It's ridiculous idea being constantly connected to internet for gaming with their SSA system and making use of GFWL:mad: DRM crap

Wouldn't it have been better if they used steam?

Edit: I was hoping that in single player or against cpu/friend I could play the full game offline with access to all the characters like in consoles and only needing online verification when playing multiplayer against other people on the net.

But to be even restricted offline wise is completely retarted with having access to only 15 fighters.

This I can say is going to hurt capcom on pc and I am sure this is already putting off many potential buyers such as myself who would like to play a fighting game on pc with full settings. This will also encourage people to pirate the game.

You could argue the PC version has more than 4 new characters seeing as the PC never got SSFIV.

probably get this but like sf4 on pc expect online to dry up within a month - it seems pc gamers dont have much enthuisasm when it comes to fighters or that many just pirate it anyway.

will be looking to primary play it on xbox though and get it via dlc on ssf4 which will be a couple of quid i hear.

Storm in a teacup as always. As long as you have registered the serial number to your gamertag & authenticated the game once whilst online the 39 characters & any other offline features are fully available.

This restriction is only for people who have not registered the game to their gamertag & authenticated once whilst online (in other words pirates or players who are trying to pirate the game). This is to prevent people creating offline profiles then pirating the game so Capcom are being very fair here considering how much piracy SF4 had on PC we are lucky to even get SSF4AE.

"If you aren’t signed in to an online GFWL profile, the offline mode has limited functionality. So all this means is you register the game as usual then it quickly authenticates with SSA & your good to go if you lose the net your still using an online GFWL profile which is valid for 39 characters in offline you only loss access to any online features which is the same in any other game anyway obviously.

I'm sure they will crack it in no time to have everything available however I am going to buy this game just to support the idea of releasing a fighting game on PC platform even though I already have SF4 on PC.

Not played sf4 for quite awhile but if the mp is dried up its only because it uses console type matchmaking instead of server choices, chat rooms, you know the usual fps type lobby server choices which imo is what makes mp last due to the better selection of choices for peoples online gaming instead of just clicking mp and it links u to some random person which i never liked about sf4 online thats why i generally only played with ppl i knew or at least knew where they came from, i.e snowdog from here and a bunch of ocukers from a pc tourny we had.

So this new online security stuff. Does it avoid the well known one GFWL key will unlock any game? Or are the keys only able to unlock their games only now? If one key like gta4 can unlock ssf4 arcade then whats the point?

Tbh i wish they just offered the new characters as a new character pack for say 8 quid or so. I mean theres no reason to buy a whole new sf4 when it is mostly the same thing as the previous one just with some new characters and fluff.
