Why is the cinema an irritating experience these days?

Why would they stop the film? Some people might want to die while watching their favourite film, no harm done.

Automatic. Don't think they really thought it through. The rolling automatically doors come down in the arcade when the fire alarm went off in our cinema. Funny watching a load of pre-teens realising they were going to be trapped in so rolling on the floor to make it before the shutter come all the way down.

We were also told to "leave disabled people". Apparently they hold up everyone else so we should leave them for the fire brigade. Makes sense I suppose.

I don't go to the multiplex anymore for many reasons already mentioned in the thread. I do still go to the cinema but I go to the one at the theatre and arts venue (Eden Court) instead. Their patrons, for the most part, are from a different demographic. They tend to actually want to go to the cinema to watch the film rather than eat noisy/smelly food, slurp drinks and talk the whole way through the film.

I find the cinema a hateful experience most of the time. Has an amazing ability to attract morons.

Why do people think it's the law to take a rustling carrier bag packed with sweets wrapped in rustling wrapping paper? Then proceed to rustle their way through the whole movie? Should be shot through the back of the head with a nail gun tbh.

Don't get me started on ****'s with their mobile phones lighting up every 2 minutes as they text all the way through the film either...

Don't seem to have a lot on in there cinema, looks good though and local(ish).

The most irritating thing is the price, it costs close to £12 to see a 3D movie at the O2 (excluding food & drink) ...then they have the cheek to charge you 80p on top of that for the glasses!! No wonder Cineworld are making millions each year!!

Depends on the quality of the film tbh, normally when I go with mates and the film is half decent ill stay silent or at least very quiet throughout the whole film, when it is terrible on the otherhand like that complete and utter fail of a movie suckerpunch I couldnt stop myself from laughing out loud at how terrible it was

It amazes me that these morons pay good money to just sit in a cinema and pay no attention to the movie and just shout and talk on the phone constantly, surely they could do this at some random bus stop and use the money to buy cheap booze and hopefully get so wasted they step in front of passing trucks.

Doubtful. Fire alarm would go off and the movie would stop.

Incorrect, the fire exits behind the screen are also emergency exits, they are not alarmed and are a secondary exit used whence exiting the cinema. So with this knowledge I can easily throw out the troublemakers safe in the knowledge that the alarm will not be activated.

I still call rubbish tbh.

I agree, however haven't had an experience like yours in ooooo 2/3years.

Best thing do is stand up in a quiet part of film (when they are sure to talk) and just shout "STFU!" accompanied by a frown, gritted teeth... pause for effect before shaking head and sitting down...

Works a treat i guarantee it!

Just went to see Pirates 4 in Norwich and everyone was pretty quiet, they normally are, don't know if it's just Norwich or I get too engrossed in films but I never notice rustling/talking.

Because no one stands up to them? Turn around and give them or their parents an ear full, they'll soon shut up. I've only had to get aggressive twice in the cinema but it's a given if you want it to stop.

Either that or grass them up.

I don't know why but I just had a laughing fit! I had tears running down my face!
