I really want to get back into FM11 but I just can't get away from Minecraft.
It's a few months from when we get the first bit of news about the next installment (usually around August) and I would really love it to have a massive change in the next version, the removal of all visible stats from players and staff. I think that there is too much reliance on getting the high stat players and not enough use of scouts and coaches. The awesome regen youths are a prime example. I know it won't happen but I think it would be so much better if you had to use scouts continuously for finding players (not just the stats when they're hidden), and having to judge their opinions. Using coach reports for training sessions to find out who is training well and who isn't. Make it more like real life where you have to find out what a player is like before signing him (perhaps with the exception being the world class players like Messi who everyone knows about).
Replacing the stats would be several attributes for each player which describe their ability, and which you'd have to scout to find out. The better the scout the closer they'd be to getting the correct attributes. Things like: skillful winger, great finisher, free kick expert, ball winner, great in the air, etc... There are loads which could be used to describe a players skills. I could go into more detail (I've thought about it a lot) but I don't want to ramble on any more.
As I said, I know it's not likely to happen but I think something like this is necessary to take the game forward. Make managing a team more like it really is and not just a game of numbers. It's too easy to dominate in this game once you've found the high stat players. I certainly think it would help make the lower leagues more challenging and less likely that we'd see those lower league times winning the Premiership after 5 or 6 seasons.
This is a good post , to many of the FM games now ( while great ) are getting more like patches with a couple of bells and whistles than new games!
There's a way to filter the player search by players who are either "unattached" or whose contracts have "expired". I think the two words in quotes are the ones you can specify in the filter.Really simple question guys but is there a quick way of looking at players whom I can sign on a free? The way I've been doing it at the moment is just going to the transfers section and then listing players by price and look at the ones who have a blank value.

Also I was thinking of starting in League 2 and trying to work my way up, any recommendations for the best team to do this? I'm not very good at the game, I usually use the likes of Arsenal, Dortmund, Wolfsburg etc so most matches are winnable even if you're a crap manager. I was thinking of managing Rotherham as that's where almost all my family are from, good choice?![]()
Thanks for the tip.![]()
I'm gonna dive into FM now so I'll take a look at the League 2 teams and then check out the filters.![]()
Sheffield Wednesday can be good![]()
Thanks guys.
I decided to go with Rotherham, I made a few signings from the free agents, I figured at this level most of the players were going to be dire so I didn't bother getting report cards or anything, I just signed players for the positions I needed cover for, also got a couple of Arsenal youngsters on loan which was nice. I drew my first match 0-0 though so I'm guessing I'll have to go and change my tactics, the team looked pretty clueless going forwards but were solid defensively.
I'll look at it in more detail tomorrow.![]()
Not on topic, but were you part of PS3multiplayer.com at some point?
