im considering this case for a micro-atx build

- matx board
- small cpu cooler
- 5830
- TX600
- 3 hard drives

what i want in the case was:

- all black
- micro-atx form factor
- good airflow
- window/mesh sidepanel
- good cable management

i quite like the "NZXT Vulcan Micro-ATX Gaming Tower Case" has anyone any experience with this case?

thanks

Good case + decent cable management. Only annoying thing is the rear fan is 80mm (or 92mm) which stopped me buying it.

ive just been having a read and people like the features, but there are a few problems:

- general poor build quality
- general flimsiness of the metal
- no top route for cpu cable
- inadequate dust filters

so i dont know what to do:

get the Vulcan and risk being dissapointed or go for the cm-690 and not have a window, look silly with such a small mobo in it and be the same as my current home build...

By poor build quality most people mean 'not lian li, corsair or silverstone'. The build quality will be perfectly satisfactory, and while the metal will be a bit flimsier than what you might get in premium cases, it'll be perfectly fine. You get what you pay for.

I haven't heard of the cable routing problem before and I always thought the dust filters were a big plus. Does inadequate mean don't catch enough dust, or don't let through enough air? The former problem might be due to people not setting up the case to have a positive air pressure.

- so the metal is of adequate quality?

- can the cpu pin be routed through the top?

- the air filters are too fine and clog up very quickly, stopping airflow and meaning temps shoot up

- would you mind giving me a more in-depth review please? :)

You can get this case for £50. How adequate do you want it?!

That's silly - air filters are there to be cleaned often. Otherwise there's no point.

I've handled this case but I don't own one, so no. I'd buy it though if I needed a portable mATX gaming case.

thanks for the review, the more i research this case, the less and less it want it

- there isnt a lot of space for cable management
- it wont fit all my hard drives nicely
- i dont like the fan controller (only two fans?)
- you cant put a 120mm in the back
- it wont accomodate a decent size cpu cooler
- you cant route the cpu power cable through the top
- there are a lot of reports of poor build quality
- it isnt that cheap when a cm-690 can be bought for £5 more...

thanks for helping me make my mind up :)

in a perfect world i would simply want a cut down cm-690 matx size :p :p :p
