Am I wasting £150? HD 5870

Hi,

I currently have a Sapphire hd 4850 x2 1gb.

I wanted to buy this XFX 5870:

Will i see much of an improvement in gaming performance i.e. Crysis 2, BFBC2, ARMA 2, Solitaire...haha. Will it be last for around 2 years?

My res is 1600 by something, Q9550 @3.8, 700W PSU AND 4GB OCZ RPR PC 8200 1066.

Thanks a lot for any help, Ive looked at tonnes of forums/benchmarks and i'm just lost.

i think it will be a very reasonable gain, not huge, but a decent improvement

I wouldn't buy that new at that price, they can be had for £110-£120 on second hand sites.

Alternatively save up and get a GTX 560 or a 6950.

That's where Im getting stuck. I cant compare my 4850 x2 to anything! But thanks for the advice.

I will definitely be playing BF3. If it means paying the extra £50 to guarantee a decent performance i.e 6950 i might go for this???

It's a cracker for the price, especially when you unlock it to a 6970.

If you look around on other sites you might come across 6950 twin frozr iii for less than twin frzr 2 price and much better card
