Pretty much as the title suggests, I'm on the hunt for a van somewhere in the size range of transit connect - swb transit, max payload of at least 800kg.

It seems no one really made vans at a time where the price point is sub £3k. I've looked at transits, connects, berlingos, vivaros, dispatches etc. To no avail.

Any suggestions (please no wrapping/painting suggestions :) )

Answered your own question.

Vans only ever come in white or red if its royal mail.

You are picky !

Can you find a fleet that are black and find out where they dispose of them, blacks such an odd van colour I think you'll end up looking forever as the only black ones will be below your standards condition wise.

Seriously though vans are cheap to paint, spend 2500 on a good condition white one and 500 on a paint job

They do exist :D

You are more likely to find them as a private sale rather than from a commercial sales place.

i don't know much about vans but i do know that that VW will go for stupid money for what it is :(

No it won't.... I don't plan on selling it :p

But on a serious note, stay away from VW forum classifieds as they more often than not will have 'Scene Tax' on the price. But keep to Auto Trader and local adds etc and you could get one within your budget.

Another one? I guess if you try enough stuff you'll eventually find something that works, heck of a lot of career u-turns though.

A new business venture. All will be revealed in good time.

Like what? Its just when people post 'Spec me a car' threads it usually something like "spec me a car for x, y, z, etc", not, "spec me a black car". Its much easiler to offer up advice when you know the purpose of what your suggesting.

Unless this is another MikeHiow hair brained scheme your cooking up, in which case its prob best to keep it to yourself. They never seem to turn out well anyway.

But anyway, make sure you find a van with "good tyres all round" (so 3 wheels), and find one thats going cheap with some work needed, I'm sure the garage will then fix it under waranty, no sweat.

Freelance web development not working out?

Working just fine, thanks :)

There is no u-turn. It would be foolish to devote myself completely to one line of work when I have time to generate income by other means as well.
