Hi I'm on Orange but am having connection difficulties with my blackberry 9700 from my address. Had the phone for 6 months and now find that it is getting increasingly impossible to conduct business from where I live when away from the office. My brother has a blackberry torch which is excellent regarding connection from my address and I am thinking of asking Orange if they will replace the 9700 with one? What are my chances. My contract is 1800 mins a month.

Is your brother also on orange?

If he has a different provider it would explain the difference in service at your address.

Doesn't the Bold 9700 have UMA? think Orange is the only network here to support it as well.

yes it does but the phone is that rubbish it can't hold a uma signal for very long at my address- hence my reason for requesting an exchange of phone ;)

Theres a chance, however i'd say its unlikely. You tend to get 14 days at the start of a contract to cancel which allows you to check things like this.

Since you've waited so long i wouldnt have thought you'd be able to do anything other than buy a new phone

What's actually been happening is I have been using the phone at the office with no problems but when I go home I am still working up to 10:30 and the amount of times the phone keeps dropping the signal is absurd. If need be I will probably part ex it or sell it but am still waiting to hear from Orange. We actually bought 3 of the 9700s and the other two are fine. Saying that, the other two are used in completely different areas.

...as an update to this saga I am pleased to announce I managed to get Vodaphone to buy out the contract; provide me with 3 Blackberry Torches and 15 Nokias, with 5000 minutes (and free calls to and from the business) all for what orange were charging me for the Bold 9700s. Lol we managed to keep the 9700s as well :D;) If you don't try you don't get.
