Hi forum can anyone confirm which of the two below is the best both roughly £300 each

Yamaha AV67 or Onkyo /HT-S3405

Cheers:cool:

The Onkyo is usually recommended when the option is given, my mate has the 3305 and its pretty good, only thing I would say is the speakers are quite cheap as most of the money goes into the amp. Not had any experience with the Yamaha so couldn't comment.

In comparisons I've seen people tend to find the Yamahas a little better with music and the Onkyos a little more "dramatic" with film, but obviously this is entirely subjective and will vary wildly with different models.

Previously had a Onkyo 607, upgraded to a Yamaha 1065 never looked back :)
Errr... that would be a Yamaha that's twice the cost of an Onkyo, surely? So hardly the sort of comparison that's helpful here. If the Yam wasn't better I'd be very disappointed, wouldn't you?

Chong Warrior, tell us why you think that the Ebay home cinema kit is a good choice for the OP?

Come on then Batman let's hear it??

Seriously what a pathetic meaningless post

Yes they are, they're in the "Not very good and not worth spending £300 on league"

Honestly if you think that your advice is genuine then either your are totally ignorant or blatantly deaf. I stand by my original post, your reply is the worst bit of advice I have ever seen on these forums. What a pathetic and meaningless post. Rolleyes!

No, they're not. Having owned a £210 Samsung system and a £300 Onkyo one, the improvement that £90 gets you is a bargain in itself. They might serve a similar function, but the quality and features of the normal consumer brand units are severely lacking.

In this price range the only real option is 2nd hand. Buying new is a waste of cash as something will be severly lacking... leading to either the owner upgrading very quickly or just not using the new equipment, either way a waste of money.

The kit I linked is crap, yes we all know it is but it's only £20... do you see?

Or you're totally incapable of using the old grey area and actually engaging a bit of thought? You obviously didn't think before you posted and now look silly.

And why post such a negative post and yet offer nothing yourself... serious question oh wise and knowledgable one

But I'm not advising him to spend £210 am I?? More like £21.

You lot are all coming in here recommending people spend £300 on kits with biscuit tin speakers and a crappy boom box and you're having a go at me? Madness I thee.
