Hi there im currently just brainstorming some ideas when it comes to air cooling the obsidian 800d case as i have read it can be achevied with good results ive seen a lot of ideas on this and i just want to present mine and see what you think.

3x120mm fans on top pushing cool air down combined with the intake of the H70 thats a lot of cool air going down towards the GPU (mine is a 480 gtx nvidia) wich has 3 stock fans that cool it pushing hot air down and then 140mm grabs that then sucks it out the bottom.

yes but maybe with all that cool air pushed downward and the gpu card pushing hot air down the 140mm can grab it and exhaust it out the bottom to be pushed out

I'm not sure if either of these are a good idea, you would be fighting against physics here, while reversing the fans may mean an insufficient flowrate of air into the case, starving the top (now outlet) fans of air. Then again I have never modded a case so more knowledgeable people may well say otherwise.

Reversing them is definitely a better idea.

Like Ace states, hot air rises, but I wouldnt worry too much about starving the top of air (Not quite sure what that means anyway).

The pressure difference alone would help pull the hotter air from the bottom (in turn pulling in more dense cool air to replace the "gap"), meaning quicker dispensing of hot air if the top fans were exhaust.

I have my 800d setup with 4 viper's exhausting through the roof one of which has the H50 rad in front of it in push/pull setup and another on the back pulling cool air and the fans in the bottom are pulling in as well, I put the stock one I took off the back into the bottom so there are two fans pulling in there and i get pretty decent temps for air.

Now all I have to do is get up the courage and cash to go onto water cooling!

Graphics card fans normally push down towards the GPU, except for the Phantom which draws away and blower fans which push air across a heatsink and components.

Dont battle against natural air thermodynamics, use them to better your airflow. Reverse those fans. Bottom/front intake. Top/rear exhaust. You know it makes sense.

I like the idea, but I have one suggestion which would improve your concept.

Don't use the 800D if you're air cooling - it sucks balls.
