Black vans for under £3k

I already look after a LWB, Full height black transit - I know what is involved in keeping it clean.

Stop being a smart arse and listen to the advice. If you do you might even make something of yourself and not be in the position where you are asking people on the internet to spec you a crap old van.

Seriously. Listen to people who know better than you.

In this thread there are people who have bought vans, and people who have started their own successful businesses. There is good advice to be had.

But instead you have decided you already know best and ignored them.

Why are you always surprised at how these threads turn out when you have that attitude?

If thats what you call success I'd hate to see a failure

It was successful for two years until that point, and the failure was through little error of my own.

I could have started again but chose to cut my losses and try something different.

Why would you need to carry around 450kg of water?

Surely people let you use their hose? I would have thought that would be expected, I wouldn't expect a detailer to turn up in some kind of mini fire engine.

Not everyone has a hose and not everyone wants their car done at home. Softened/filtered/RO water is also of great benefit.

Asking to use their water, which could potentially mean running a hose through their house (not everyone has a side gate or tap at the front of their house) is really unprofessional.

If you're going to put photos on a website to show off your work, then you need to make better use of your camera... that barely looks any more than a quick 2 bucket wash to me.

Just LOL.

Because I disagree with their reasoning. I can see why a white van might work for Jez but it doesn't suit my needs - I have different priorities and needs from it and white just doesn't suit them.

I dunno, surely it would have been sensible to have agreements and contracts in place relating to what your business owns so that when someone elses business goes down the pan all your assets don't get liquidated? :p

It was wound up when my hosting provider went bust with no record of what belonged to who and £8k+ of my kit (and more importantly, data) was liquidated as their own.

Ouch. Oh how I would love to know how £8k of your assets ended up belonging to your web hosting provider. I suspect I will never really know.

Let's get it right, they were liquidated when they went bust - they never "ended up belonging to my* web hosting provider"

*Sorry, can I use my here? Perhaps I should say A web hosting provider, but that wouldn't make sense? Brain explode.

Yes, because Jez is poverty poor with no money, a shoddy van and no business knowledge due to following his own misguided advice...?

Somebody must have felt they belonged to your hosting provider if they were liquidated when it went bust!

If this was such a succesful business did it not occur to you to start it back up again rather than 'trying something new' back when you ended up having to sell your Focus/considering a bonkers 200 mile round trip commute to London etc? Seems like it would have been a nice easy solution to that?

You dont think some quality pics would really help your case?

Sure, but my job is to detail cars, not to be a photographer.

Perhaps a 50/50 is more your thing?

I don't know how it can be improved, unless you think that getting the lighting perfect and some arty farty shots with some DOF would really help?

I honestly don't know why people bother posting in MikeHiow's threads. He never takes any notice of anyone and always thinks he knows better.

Just leave him to it and let him get on with making mistake after mistake.

Damn, I've gone and posted in a MikeHiow thread.
