Question with connecting xbox > PC monitor

Buying an xbox360 yet dont have a TV as i watch all TV through my PC monitor. My monitor only has a D-sub connection, so, will this cable do the trick so i can hook the xbox into the monitor?
Once this is plugged in, do it just put the red and whites into my amp?

WTF is d-sub? google images is throwing up all sorts of pin configurations. If it is a digital connection i would recommend a HDMI converter so you get a better picture.

except audio and video is put over the hdmi

makes cabling that much easier.
