Little too over-sharpened for my taste.
Also a little too over exposed as well, as the light is beginning to destroy some of the hair detail as well as skin texture.
Maybe this detail would have survived if you closed down your aperture a little more to lower the exposure but I'm not sure, I think the model was probably too close to the backdrop and the wrap coming off the backdrop is bleaching into the hair, alternatively the backdrop was more over exposed than it needed to be, and the final alternative is that the background light were not hitting the backdrop at enough angle so more of the light came bouncing off towards the lens, but it could be a combination of the above.
Or you upped the exposure too much in post to lose detail in the backdrop? If that was the case as mentioned above, your subject was too close to the backdrop.

Also looks like some black detail has been clipped but that could be due to the B&W conversion.

Light placement is ok but needs to be higher imo, a loop lighting pattern would work well here.

Model pose and expression is good in No.1 and 2, but No. 3 looks awkward imo.

tbh, these are technical things that wouldn't take too much practice to get spot on, and when you do, I'l think you'l notice a big improvement in your work.

Thanks for spending time on feedback, some points I agree with...some I don't. :p

Regarding the over exposure I have PP these for a very high key look although saying that Lightroom doesn't flag any areas (other than a couple of outer background areas) as over exposed. Black clipping is also minimal with just the odd couple of spots in the central hair areas (I guess I could brush those bits).

As for model positioning she was around 3 foot in front of the background other than the one where she is laying on the floor.

Lighting wise (iirc) main light front left up high, two rear lights to overexpose background. Reflector front right low for fill and a small hair light above right side.

Anyway a couple more, this time one of the other models:-

good work andy - nice exposure. As a set i actually like the first images, i dont mind the 'hot' exposure - the look works for the model. Ok, they wont win any technical awards but thats not the aim.

On the second set, the eyes look overwhitened by quite a way, have you PP'd them (some models do have extremely white eyes, so it may just be the lighting reflecting)? Overall the lighting is looking good. What modifiers were you using?

Thanks.

Modifier wise we had three different setups in place so trying to remember what was in place on each is going to be a challenge. The main setup I was using had the main light in a large rectangular softbox, a smaller square softbox, and the rear lights were controlled with barn-doors and honeycomb filters for the dark background stuff or open strobes for the high key.

There was so much kit available to us, one of the guys literally packed his car full of gear that we had more than we could use. Only problem with that is I come away with a list of things I 'must' now have. :D

What is the thing on her face in the first set? Maybe sounds horrible but that is all I find myself staring at, it looks very odd!

That 'thing' as you put it is just a mole. Seeing as it's not a spot/sore it would be impolite to remove it unless asked by the model herself.

Cheers it just looked odd, has a black spot in it, thought it could have been some sort of peircing gone weird with the lighting.

Thanks.

Sounds like a fun day!

Great sets, personally I quite like the slight blown out look of the first one, suits it nicely. Beautifully sharp eyes in the last one too!
