Ok so I've spent the morning listening to a particular style of music, a few different songs by a few different artists and I was just wondering how i could expand my musical horizons by finding similar music. I know that last.fm and other services may do that, but it's not always a viable option.

So, I figured i'd make a thread where people could post an example of what they're listening to, and then get recommendations on where to go next, as it were.

To kick off, i'm looking for similar to:

Peter Gabriel's My Body is a Cage
Everlast's Black Jesus
Pearl Jam's Just Breathe

So the kinda style im looking for is deep, raspy voice, melodious, can be acoustic or otherwise.

If you want raspy vocals, I have to suggest Rob Dougan. Although his popular tracks have been instrumental (stuff in the Matrix films), he sounds a bit like Chris Rea. Speaking of which Chris Rea could match.

I'm going to second this suggestion. First person I thought of when I read the original post. I'd recommend the song "I'll Take Care of You".

He's done some great stuff with Isobel Campbell too.
