just pulled the trigger on a gtx 580

If its the first purchase towards on a SB upgrade path then hell yes its a good choice. Yes you can get nearly the same performance for less but its still nearly the same. Its nice just to treat yourself once in a while :)

I would reckon PSU, motherboard / i5 2500k overclocked to the max, memory, new (BIG) monitor a solid case .........

happy spending :D (it gets addictive, once you've had the best you'll be fighting the itch in a years time :) )

Got a 580GTX myself and it destroys everything I put in front of it, including some of the most demanding titles out (like metro 2033, crysis and shogun 2 etc).

Be happy with your purchase and don't look back. I priced up 6950 xfire originally but the amount of issues people complain about with game compatibility etc would just wind me up in the end so 1 solid gpu is always a good idea. Enjoy the card, but you'll definitely need to upgrade your system to something quicker to remove the bottleneck on it!

Not going to get it tomorrow :( When I ordered the card the stock level indicator stated there was 1 in stock but the stock level online was wrong.

I only found out after I posted in the customer service section. So I asked to substitute it with a Gainward 580 which stated 2 in stock but guess what, there were none of them left either. And I had a day off tomorrow.

There should be a process for informing the customer that the item ordered is not in the warehouse so I could have chosen an alternative earlier.

Not happy.

Might just cancel the order as it was purchased on a whim.

Well I just pulled the trigger on mine + a waterblock :)

Cannot wait, now got my old cards up for sale :)

I got the gainward and its a cracking card. Worth the wait though regardless of the brand.

I thought they sorted that out a while back, unlucky there fella, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. :)

Yes 580s can overclock to but is there overclock worth £150+ i dont think so.
Fastest single GPU card will always has a price premium. Overclocked GTX580 is comparable to 5970, but without the issues of scaling and driver for Crossfire. You don't think it's worth it that just you, but there people that are willing to pay the extra for the fastest single GPU card deem it totally worth it. Plus, it's getting hard to get a flashable 6950 2GB now.

because 580 dont even need overcklock to be fair for console ports, its way more powerfull than 6970,no need to talk BS here.
And you can easily clock most 580 to 920-950mhz,and since its bigger gpu its very good result. Also has very good cooler, even stock.

OP - excelent choice,i would buy it now also for 350 or even less if look around ;) Great card,i made few pc's for friends with it,very happy with they choice

and since its bigger gpu its very good result

Does that make any sense? Or stand up in fact?

In my opinion, £150 over a GTX480 or a 6950 is not worth it, as either of these in SLI/Crossfire thrashes a GTX580 by such a huge margin.

Well, I just ordered a GTX580, upgrading from GTX460!

Most I've ever spent on a graphics card, yikes!
