I'm taking a look at a car tomorrow. I'm quite keen so did a quick MyCarCheck and the mileage results are as follows -

We have the following mileages recorded for this registration:
• 128,000 miles recorded on 22 Sep 2005

• 128,000 miles recorded on 5 Sep 2005

• 128,424 miles recorded on 9 May 2005

• 43,600 miles recorded on 15 Jul 1999

The car can be seen here (listed at 66k miles). There's a disclaimer below the mileage check "Please note that mileages are supplied by third parties and are not validated. " - Think I should avoid?

Bit of an impulse post and reading it back the answer is a somewhat obvious. I'll mention it to the seller and avoid!

No, you can't check the mileage of someone elses car online. The MOT information is purely there to tell insurance, tax databases that the car has an MOT

Make sure you get him to send you pics of the VIN numbers on the chassis too if mileage is in question.

If dodgey he either won't respond or it will be the age old engine swap rhetoric.

Yeah i'd be treading very careful, for all we know the current owner might not know. If it's as easy as changing the clocks over then someone in the past might of. Having said that though I suppose that would have caused issues at MOT times if it comes back as being lower than the previous year..

Just been serviced by a trusted local garage.

Funny how they have to slip the word trusted in, same place probably did the mileage haircut.

Walk away from the first one without a doubt.

clocking is bad mmmkay, someone could have bought it on 128k used is as a taxi till 200k then clocked it back to 128k, unless of course the website has an error.

How many 17 year old Mazda MX5's have you seen as taxi's dude?

I do see your point though, it is quite possible that the website has errors which could occur in conflicting mileage reports. Best way to be sure (if possible) and as previously mentioned is to check the previous MOT certificates.
