Black vans for under £3k

I just don't get the kick of out trying to put out someone's entrepeneurial drive and spirit

I haven't seen a single person try and do that.

What I have seen is people either doubt that they'll happen and think that it is just another one of Mike ideas that don't quite get off of the ground, or worry that he is rushing into this without thinking.

Being good at polishing cars is one thing, being good at polishing cars so that a few mates/mates of mates will give you a bit of pin money for it is another thing, but being good enough at polishing that you're confident that it is going to put food on the table of your family is quite another world.

Sounds like the ideal weekend thing to properly test the water, but full time with a van?

The interesting thing is that there probably is a bit of money in doing this on the side of a weekend. The whole go bonkers with a van thing is a daft idea, but doing a bit here and therefore until you end up having to make bigger choices is a far better idea..

Me and Fox agree entirely. I'm scared.

I guess I'm the only one sitting here wondering how to get a desk next to Fox?

To be honest, I'll have to admit that Fox seemed like a decent enough guy at the eurospec meet a few months ago. And while I don't think I personally had a chat with him I did mingle for a bit, and he did appear nice enough.

All I could think at the time were, I dig those VANS you're wearing Fox. :p :o

I doubt most peoples cars would be available at the weekends and evening. But I do think it would make a lot of sense to safeguard your guaranteed income.

He's an 'easy target' because he wants to be - he knows exactly which way the threads will go and he posts in a way to encourage it. Look at his OP - he's not actually asking for anything he doesn't really already know, he posts in such a way that he's vague enough to get people begging for more detail until he eventually reveals it. Even a few posts ago he adds yet more detail - this time that actually, he's got substantial van experience already, probably more than most on here!

He enjoys being on the other side just as much, if not more so, as everyone else. Thats part of the reason why he posts the way he does. If it was simply this forum, then:

a) There would be many more MikeHiow's on here. There isn't - its ONLY him that manages to generate this sort of thread.
b) Pretty much the same thing wouldnt happen on another forum to the extent that one of the regulars actually emails us to tell us all about it.

It takes two to tango and MikeHiow is very much a willing partner so does not need or deserve your sympathy.

It does indeed take two. I think you're enjoying this more than anyone else arent you Fox? ;)

I dont think there is any doubt that internet debates are something I enjoy is there :p

That said, I think this one is rapidly running out of steam, with the conclusion that:

a) The best sub £3k van is a white one
b) If you must have a black one, then the smaller vans are more likely to be black
c) Trying not to invest in a van at first is probably prudent

Did you miss the post where I said I have enough web dev work and will be continuing to be doing this as well as detailing stuff?

attention to detail.

;)

Couldn't care less about his personality. Just the perks of sharing an office with him.

The difference between polishing cars for a few mates and making a business out of it is attention to detail.

Thats a good name for a detailing business...but its already gone to a guy on another forum i visit...
:D

Have you though about having a van sprayed black? You might be able to get it done cheaply if you flat and polish it yourself?

It should give you plenty of practice.

I've done the desk job thing and I didn't particularly like it - it isn't nearly challenging enough and I like being active.

I'm not sure where the sarcastic sentence regarding success comes from, you seem to imply my past is riddled with failure, which it is not? I'm living more than comfortably right now and have done for the last 6 years, I just want to try something different.

...Someone 'living comfortably' doesn't fart around buying old clios with odd tyres.

Although its difficult to believe a word you've written in any of your many many posts I hope you find something you can stick at/are good at :)

Is this another silly thread that's just going to follow the trend and end up like the rest of the other threads?
