What are you doing on October 21st?

Love it.

Here is a tip, referring to the second coming Matthew 24 vs 36 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (NIV)

Thus, no biblical justification for some dude predicting the apocalypse on Christian grounds. Given that in this case the prediction of the apocalypse is based on his Christian beliefs and biblical justification he seems to be digging himself into a hole.

Maybe he is taking the approach if you pick enough dates you may get it right by default, pretty much like buying every combination of lottery ticket :)

Ughh... he's like that elderly neighbour who purposely takes a battery out of the television remote and asks you to help as his TV isn't working.

also LOL at people actually giving away/spending their life savings, surely they're ready to kill this chump?

They'll rationalise it as a test of their faith.

I was reading about people taking the past few days off work in the build up to the 21st - if they really had that much faith, I'm surprised they didn't just quit their jobs :p

This guy just wants everyone attention, he wants to be famous in his last years if not months of life.... be remembered as a 'dick that predicted'

Couldn't we just knock him into a Volcano so atleast he gets the real experience while the rest of us get on with our lives rather than trying to predict when our death will be.

The only thing that amazes me about this story is the number of people who believed him and continue to believe other similarly unsubstantiated nonsense.

Where would we be if there weren't a bunch of nutters like this. Don’t answer that one. :D

That's not the amazing part, the amazing part is about the very people who spent their life savings because they "knew" the world was ending...

So in 1994 it was a mathematical error, May 2011 was a 'miscalculation'. What will be the excuse in October 2011? A dodgy abacus? Why are so many of our species so gullible?

Camping said his company would not return money donated by followers to publicize the failed May 21 prediction. "We’re not at the end. Why would we return it?
