Dirt 3 now on Steam

Dirt 2 is a much better looking game than Dirt 3. Dirt 2 looked vibrant and colourful. Dirt 3 just looks dull and washed out.
Fully agree but the cars in Dirt3 appear to use full DX11 as there is a lot of detail there not saying Dirt3 looks great cause it looks the opposite cannot believe how dull it is none of the tracks look decent at all  been playing Flatout Ultimate Carnage recently & even though thats a 2008 game it looks way better & plays a lot better

Games growing on me, I can see they have gone for the realistic look with D3 and some levels/effects are good looking like below. Hope they vary the tracks up a bit, D2 recycled so many tracks it was sad.

lol the cars in D3 do not use DX11/tessellation, they are on par and even slightly worse in some instances when compared to D2.

wwell looking round the net it seems you guys are not along in slating the pc visuals , people are saying that from low to ultra the texturse look the same etc and seems to be a lack of dx11 additions , as i cant play dirt 3 just now , only 2 at low settings on this crap laptop , not the m14x btw! i can say that racing in london at night in dirt 2 looks amazing ..... so maybe we have to wait for codemasters to answer this ?

There is no jneed to get hung up over visuals, it doesnt mean jot when your playing it, It still looks amazing they have just gone for a more realistic and gritty look compared to the over the top bloom and HDR of Dirt2

Jesus just play the game for what it is, never have I heard so many people hung up on gfx, It still looks great
and plays great. Can't go wrong for £26. Try paying for some of the rubbish you get on consoles :(

That is when the game really comes into its own. I personally prefer the realistic look of Dirt 3 over the cartoony, bloom filled world of Dirt 2.

Lets also not forget, the car handling is excellent compared to Dirt 2 and most other "arcade" type games (assuming your turn aids off).

An excellent game for £26.

Its not just visuals for me. Its gone sort of "toy townish" There's a definite lack of weight or feel to the physics. It may be the driving model they've tuned the game to and I'm not saying that Dirt2's was the best either in certain places.

An analogy of how I feel about this.
In Dirt2 I felt that in most of the races (in particular landrush and rallycross) there was an aggressive loud mouth redneck trying to kill me. But in Dirt3 so far there's a little man with a ****ty stick trying to hit me.

You sure you have aids all off? The car handling is much improved on Dirt 2 and there is certainly more weight to the cars.

I have only noticed what you have said in the game with aids on and using a pad. The game is completely different with a wheel setup.

I have noticed the AI is a lot more aggressive in Dirt 3 too - that could just be because I have it turned all the way up though.

Gameplay is better than D2 and more challenging, I flew through D2. In fact I'm kind of happy that they have done away with that whole American feel to the game D2 had and have somewhat gone back to the games roots, some stages are very reminiscent of a Colin Mcrae rally game and that's a good thing.

That's how it felt until I turned assists off. They lasted all of two corners.
