I have a strange one for you:

If my phone starts to ring anywhere near my computer or if I get a text, my screen blacks out... Is this a normal thing to have happen? Only I don't find it too useful.

The monitor is the Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS if that helps

What does the screen turn off? Or does the screen go black? If the screen has speakers inside it then that could be the problem as im sure everyone knows when your phone goes off near speakers you get this beeping kind of tone, i usually get that, but never my screen going black, could be the graphics card aswell... But i cant see how that can cause a problem?

Whats your specss?

Not heard of that before, but you could give it the same workaround as you do for mobile interference on speakers as I'm sure it's the same cause.

Hmm, CCFL inverters are pretty high frequency, so there's a chance your mobile phone could be doing something funky and interfering with your inverter somehow...

If your monitor has an LED backlight however, just ignore what I've just said... ;)

Has your monitor got half decent cabling?/how is it connected to the PC?

I ask as whenever my phone rings (and even just sat on the side as it tells the local cell that it's "available"), my speakers pick up interference.
Most/all monitor cables should have ferrite rings (the lumps a few inches from the end of the cable) to alleviate the interference from things like radios/mobiles, but it's possible if the cabling is poorly shielded or lacking the rings it could cause loss of sync.

In short, I'd try either moving the monitor data cable, or if you've got another one spare, using that :)

Its connected via HDMI. It could be the cable as it doesn't have the 'lumps'. I'll try and dig out my other cable and have a look-see at that.

Cheers for the responses though :)

By the way if you have an NVIDIA card connect it via DVI if possible. I used HDMI for a while with my screen and the NVIDIA control panel flat out refused to do the full colour range so everything looked washed out when using HDMI.

ok, sorry for the thread revival. I know it's been a month but I thought I'd put in a little update:

I changed the HDMI cable and that seemed to sort it.
However, having recieved a phone call about 5 minutes ago, my screen *surprise surprise* went black again. Seems the issue hasnt been resolved after all. I'm kinda reserved to the fact that I may have to put up with it.

Unless anyone has any other ideas?
