Portal 2 is good, but something like 11GB (?). And probably quite difficult for someone not used to FPS.

Adventure games like Monkey Island are quite difficult, again for someone not used to these types of game, and require dedication.

I'd second the easy puzzle / action games.

my mum likes playing those hidden object games, try one of those. They are fun fro what they are.
Also, Theme Hospital/Theme Parrk are good choices, or even one of the Civ games, i think you can get Civ 4 fairly cheap. roken Sword is also a good shout

My Mam plays Perfect World, a F2P MMO.

She has two pretty high level chars I believe, a priest of some sort and a ranger that shoots arrows (her words not mine!).
