The most important thing in life is to be happy?

I think money can push your happiness further.... because then you can do what you want, experience new things, meet new people, etc. Never agreed with people that said money are not needed to be happy, such a BS.... no money = no food/drink, no electricity or roof above your head = bad times!

How many people do you actually know that are happy every day?

I for instance am very unhappy most of the time due to zero satisfaction job (working on getting another one but it’s super difficult at the moment), money is always a problem even though I always have enough for food but paying 60% of my wage just to cover rent and bills is a joke (on 17k if you want to know).

The only good time I have is when I meet friends or when I can sleep and forget about everything else.

Life really does suck.

Being happy means enjoying your work, social and family life. So yes i kind of agree that it is the most important thing in life but in some ways also disagree :p

Sadly our society is fuelled with a 'the grass is always greener' philosophy. If only we took a step back and embraced what we have in front of us.

That's why I'm a big fan of the Buddhist religion.

I agree to an extent, but won't pass judgement on either approach.

What I can say, is that if you handed me £3 million I'd be one HELL of a lot happier than I am right now, overnight. Generally, I find that those who belittle others who recognise that happiness in general can be bought by claiming materialism etc. are those who happen to live relatively comfortably anyway.

Those who claim money could never buy happiness either have too much, or too little.

Me? If I had all the money I need to never work again, do all the travelling and, hell, living that I'd really like to I'd be one happy bunny.

I know it is clichéd to say this, but I do think most people would get to a point where boredom set in. After you've bought several houses in various countries, been on countless holidays around the world, own a dozen super cars, where is there to go? Where is the challenge? Where does desire for self-improvement come from?

To answer the OP's question -no, money cannot buy happiness.
