So, apparently, quoting someone, swapping out a word and commenting "Fixed." (Which is obviously a tongue in cheek comment) are now "abusive comments" and worthy of gaining an infraction despite the fact it's actually aimed at nobody at all really and was a generalised comment? More of a written /rolleyes than anything.

Word in question is searchable right now and used gratuitously across all sections of the forums, and in some cases, even directed at people.

I thought for a moment my account may of been compromised/someone found a session on my work system I left logged in and forgot to lock etc if it was bad enough to be warned over. But no, I have since found the removed comment and almost laughed my head off that it was deemed abusive, and even if it was, even mildy - aimed at nobody individually.

So really, undirected tongue in cheek comments with words bantered about plenty are now against the rules. Please.

It's a private forum, mods can do as they please here if Spie is OK with it. If it's not your cup of tea then there's plenty of other forums available.

Meh, unless you wanted to purchase something why let it bother you?

My last two infractions have been on 'differences' of sense of humour. I'm not boasting about it, but I guess all it took was one person to get upset.

I got an infraction for suggesting people club towards a fund to help us set fire to another member last week.

In reflection I was probably asking for it.

My last Suss was for using James Mays word which he uses on BBC2 :p so no mention of shuttle**** or stop **** or ****arool etc etc etc.
It's Laughable & just shows some peoples mentality to be no more than Junior school.

Because I have made 10s if not 100s of other comments I would deem far more 'offensive' and I would rather not end up on holiday because of the level of sensitivity a specific Don who happens to come across it has.

Clarification of the rules if anything.

No, I agree. People learn rules by seeing what's allowed / disallowed more than reading e.g. FAQ's etc. Or by being punished the first time a comment's made but as you say it's randomly the 50th or 60th.

I used to agree with the reason given that the entire forums were difficult to police - however seeing the speed with which Bryan Riggs comments were removed..

Yeah, well on the flipside it's insanely boring and anal/tedious if the whole forum decided to take everything at face value and lost their sense of humour as well.

There's moderation and then there's "moderation".

I am not saying it's easy but seriously, the infraction PM I got was basically punishment by death. A copy-pasta for what you would get for seriously abusing someone with the full arsenal of naughty words.

It was not a "That's borderline and some might take it the wrong way I have removed it" just a copy paste...not even a quote of what it was that got removed. So here is me thinking I laid on someone or someone else posted on my account which I now need to apologise for when in-fact it was something I deemed rather mild and at the end of the day not even directed at someone.

I personally don't think hit-and-run infractions with a generic copy paste "abusive comment" reason is quality moderating. Sorry, I just don't.
