I can't get this to over clock at all, even just going up to 2600 will give a BSoD in 10 or so mins, when i try 2700 it usually gives a BSoD once i apply the settings with amd overdrive. I have even tried the core volts on 1.35 from the default 1.30. Any ideas?

I have a 9850 Quad Core Phenom, K9A2 Platinum MB along with 4gb of Ballistix 1066mhz DDR2 running Windows 7 64bit.

Have you tried overclocking via BIOS instead of AMD Overdrive?

Also the first Phenom series were poor overclockers, you'll be lucky to reach 3ghz.

Trying doing it via the BIOS, the overclock will be more stable on that. Just keep raising the FSB and CPU voltages when needed, and dropping the RAM multiplier if the RAM speeds jumps too high.

With the latest BIOS your motherboard can support all Phenom II CPUs, inluding the X6s. You can see the CPU support list and a link to the latest BIOS here: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9A2 Platinum.html#?div=CPUSupport

Got core 1, 2, & 3 up to 2.8 with only 1 notch up on the voltage. Not sure how stable it is yet but not crashed straight away which is good. Looks like something is wrong with core 4 since that won't go higher then the stock 2.5 without BSoD.

Seconding this statement. I had the 7850 and could only get it to around 3.1Ghz with a healthy dose of voltage. I also used the Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 and even at stock it ran warm. Which is to be expected of a 65nm chip. Ultimately I gave up trying to get it clocked stable and offed the build to my brother.
