Got my new camera today, my first DSLR (500D). Haven't had much chance to try it out yet myself but my sister has had a play with it without me knowing and took this:

Not entirely in focus, but considering she's used to pressing a button and letting the camera do the work I don't think that's a bad photograph at all considering I left it on Manual with manual focusing as well. I think she's secretly been reading up on photography

Nice efforts, good to see HDR used sparingly and not OH WOW LOOK AT THIS GHASTLY MESS I JUST MADE like you usually see when people first discover it.

I don't know if it's my work monitor but I'm getting really jagged edges particularly on the sides of the screen. The only way I can describe it is that I need to enable antialiasing or something.

Yeh it's the sharpening I apply after post. I used slightly different USM settings for that, probably more aggressive. I need to find the settings I use to use on my old PC
